Syshore Beachfront Hotel

Even if it kept raining and cloudy dark, I still enjoyed the sights as we entered Sogod.

I relegated the choice of overnight accommodation to my driver who had been in this town many times before. But, I got a bit worried when we were already past the town center still driving. So, reminded him saying "sa'n tayo papunta? dito tayo matutulog ha?" But his reply was "relax lang sir, me alam ako magugustuhan mo, nasa tabing dagat eh"!

So we arrived at this place called "Syshore Beachfront Hotel"...
Syshore Beachfront Hotel gate and entrance
Hmm, entrance and facade considered, promising! He proceeded to check us in, I went to check-out something I saw next door (left of this fence), a 'restobar and grill'! Story here.

When I came back, of course I took a closer photo of the hotel's name. This...

Judging from the faded colors and materials, this thing is not new. Well, if there is still that "star" up there when today is already July, plus, if my driver has been here before (on his previous job), then this place must have aged a bit, I just guessed! Still, it looks good.

I passed by front desk to ask what room we were in, and I saw this...
room rates and menu at Syshore Beachfront Hotel
Interesting that a menu is also in a standee displayed beside the room rates. But why not, di ba?! At least, it immediately told me, that there is something to eat in here! Yey!

The room. Nice one. No unnecessary decors and ornate whatever whatevers!

Big beds too! Simple, basic, comfy. There was a fridge, a cabinet with shelves and hangers with a mirror like a dresser, aside from a big round mirror beside a tiny TV hehe. Big clean toilet with a separate shower, but I wondered why there was no toilet-seat. I didn't bother, I didn't care. We were to sleep here just a few hours of the night anyway.

After a quick washup, in this room of course, we were off to dinner at their restaurant area by the sea shore - that's why this place is called Syshore - by the way hehehe! I liked the 'native' style hut with wooden floor and everything else is made of bamboo! Cool!

Sizzling grilled fresh fish... this was the best for me!

I think this was 'tanguigue'. We had to ask for two more orders of this thing. Lami kaayo!

Sizzling sisig... Yumminesshh!

I always like it dry with every bit of the whole thing crispy yet juicy! Yes me ganun. And this is it, mismo! Well, as expected, this goes well with beer, so we had San Miguel Light.

Which, started our throats craving for more beer. Thus, we walked next door, to Kimberly!

In the morning, I headed to the same spot, and this is what I saw... fantastic skies!
serene morning view of Sogod Bay at Syshore Beachfront Hotel
The sun should have been inching up a bit to the left. But it was still a cloudy rainy day. I could not complain, the combination of weather and time of day made this view great!

And the breakfast arrived... though I almost did not touch it...
corned beef silog and coffee at Syshore Beachfront Hotel
We all have our own 'quirks', right? This is one of mine when it comes to food. Just seeing it already told me it is Argentina, my most disliked corned beef on earth. Malansa sa aking panlasa. That's just me. We are all different, right? I asked the waiter if he could find Purefoods at a nearby store - wala daw. Sus, I was sure tinatamad lang sya lumabas!

Even that cup of coffee was a bit of an issue (well, am not really into coffee anyway)
3-in-1 coffee at Syshore Beachfront Hotel
The 3-in-1 powder just won't dissolve normally. It needed a vigorous way of stirring, plus some squeashing hehe. Obviously, the "hot water" they served was not hot enough. This usually happens to establishments serving many customers all at the same time, yet they only use those hot/cold water dispensers. Well, good for them am not a coffee dude.

Anyway, dull breakfast notwithstanding, I really enjoyed being in this place. The serene outdoors, the placid waters, more than compensated for the lackluster fare on the table!

Just look at how still the water is. This may be a bay, but still very much part of the sea!

I even took videos of fishermen paddling, gliding by in their little bancas. I'll post them here soon!

Anyway again... I spent almost the whole morning in this place, just looking out to the calm waters, listening to practically nothing.., AND, posting blog stories from yesterday! Until, a "bagong ligo ready to go driver" came to remind me "sir, mag-a-alas-nueve na"!

All I could say was "o syet"! As if I was awakened from a dream hahaha!

I frantically rushed to wrap things up. And, I saw this on the way out of the shore...
big conference room of Syshore Beachfront Hotel
All that flashed into my rushing mind was 'what a lively group and what an early time for them to party! I came from a 'kubo' at the outside left of this big conference area, and I think that outside (right side) part is a pool. But no time to check, "rush hour" na for me!

At least I got to see a probable reason why the hot water served by the waiter was "not hot". Look at that number of people. Eh, even the cold water from that usual dispenser will not also be cold. "Laso ha takure" is still the good old reliable source for hot coffee!

By the lobby, I saw that signage at their registration table... Oh, a breakfast group!

BCBP - Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals. I'm getting familiar with that name and abbreviation due to my travels. Their breakfast meetings are on Sundays.

One last look at Syshore Hotel's front desk... as we waited for anyone to check us out!

Ang tagal ha?! We even had to ask the guard to call any staff to attend to our check-out!

So out and rushing we went. I was late because I over-enjoyed the water view back there. More time wasted because no one was manning the front desk for our check out.

We rushed off to Bontoc where I had a 10AM meet-up with a contact.

That meant, leaving town without passing by the Sogod municipal hall and church :(

Well, there will always be a next time...
