Hinunangan Municipal Hall

The Municipal Hall of Hinunangan, Southern Leyte... bow!

If I was in awe that residences in this town have 'wider than usual' lot areas, well well well baho ka'g tiil, their town hall won't be left behind! This municipal hall sits in the middle of a vast field, surrounded by its departmental office buildings and parks. Wow!

This munisipyo is one of a few in this country (though their numbers are increasing) that does not sit near a catholic church! Not that this is intentional (I guess). It is probably because, in the distant past, legally or not, the church and the municipal government seemed to be one OR the same, thus, the need for proximity. Di ba Padre Damaso? hehe!

Nowadays, holding public offices need more space, as there are now many departments, so, they need wider space to effectively serve parishioners, oops, I mean the residents!

This Hinunangan Municipal Hall can be approached from various points of the national road. But it is shortest (just 200 meters) and easiest, by turning right from the corner of Sonsavings Commercial Building - which is at the southern end of a stretch of business establishments lining the side of the national highway. It's sort of a 'government center'!

A hundred meters from Sonsavings Commercial Bldg., you reach this park-like rotunda.

This is just halfway from the national road on your way to the town hall. But you would have already passed by their Rural Health Unit (RHU) which is just behind Sonsavings. 

This is their transport terminal (also expansive) with commercial stalls across the RHU...

As there was no traffic, we drove around just to see the expanse of this wide place!

This (blue building) is the opposite end of the above building of commercial stalls...

That one in front, with a dilapidating roof, is where the buses park, though I learned that is about to be taken down, so that buses or vans park just in front of this blue building.

Here... this is front of the above blue building. At that far end is the RHU...

Just roaming around, I get the feeling that this can even also become their "palengke"!

Another block in the same wide wide field is that park with a big childrens' playground...

Two side of this park is right beside the national highway that incidentally also curves here. But this is surrounded by a moat, so no danger of children 'straying' unto the road.


But let us go back to the munisipyo which is still more than a hundred meters inside...

I like that monument of Jose Rizal. On his left arm, he is carrying a white coat - probably a medical robe to portray that he was also a medical doctor. And beside his right foot, is a stack of books to about the height of his thigh. We tried counting! About 15 books?

Hey, even if it is colored black, I noticed, Rizal is carrying something flat on his right hand. I loudly asked for my driver to hear "ano kaya yun"? And the prompt reply was "MacBook yan sir"! As we laughed, I said "tara, alis na tayo" lest the topic go elsewhere!

MacBook daw.., di man lang ginawang iPad?
