Mika's Araw Beach Resort
This is a new one, not many yet, even from Gamay, know about the existence of this resort. I chanced upon this place on my morning stroll of Brgy. San Antonio, Gamay.
Yes, Brgy. San Antonio, where Araw Beach is - north of Gamay town proper - not the now known Mika's Beach Resort at Brgy. Cagamutan Del Norte, south of poblacion. Which incidentally per plan, is where I'm going immediately after Araw Beach. Wow!
It was too early (wala pang alas-siete), so I told my self to come back, and I did!
I quickly recorgnized, that this is the only all-concrete resort on Araw Beach, so far.
The upper floor is a wide open space. That must be great for parties or events.
Ground level has 4 rooms only, I didn't see any other, although the place is wide.I seem to 'espy' that the '4-rooms-only' structure seem to be still a 'market-test'? Pag dinumog at umaariba na, dagdagan. But while waiting for that, 4 rooms is no-sweat!
Parang nakikinikinita ko ang business sense ng me-ari! Marunong. Mahusay.
Aw, huhusay talaga sila. I think this is their 3rd resort in Gamay alone. They have:
1) Mika's Bukid Resort - their entrance of which I saw on the way to Palapag;
2) Mika's Gapo Beach Resort - where I'll be staying immediately after Araw; and this
3) Mika's Araw Beach Resort - ito, that I did not know about and found by accident!
Anyway, the caretakers of this, their Araw Beach resort, a youngish couple, were too generous to welcome me, answer my questions - even show me around this facility.
Which, actually was, yun na yon hahaha!
I may be joking, but you will have to believe me when I say, that, is the biggest most modern (and I suppose most sturdy) building in the barangay right now. Tallest too!
That room near the stairs wasn't occupied. The misis told me to go peep. For some reason I did not. Maybe I was thinkin' I was going to their Gapo Beach later anyway.
Oh, look at that building again. At that far-end nearer the beach, where the concrete parking also ends, there is an entrance gate from the street that goes to Nathalie's!
Nice location. Brgy. San Antonio only has two main streets, each about 150 meters long. The first one, let me call it hill-side is from front of Mika's gate, BDRRMO, to the school, the angry dog, the chapel, and a road extension underway behind Nathalie's.
The second one, let's call it sea-side is the side/back of that building above, passing by the friendly puppies neighborhood, a tindahan that sells ube-flavored badhuya, one vacant lot where they do zumba, until the lon-an and finally Nathalie's Store/Resort!
But let's not go out of Mika's just yet. In the pictures above, you'll see an open hut by the beach. That, I think, is the wow part of Mika's. It is breezy there, under the trees!
I went there, but couldn't take a pic of any beach hut (cavana) as there were people.Look to the right edge of the picture. That's 1 of the cavanas! All are good concrete.
Oh the dark lumps on the sand are not all plants. If you look closely, there's a big fat old very lazy but friendly dog! It approached and even went with me for a few steps!Siguro naisip nya "wala kang doggie treats? awh, sige bahala ka na dyan, be my guest!"
Look, here's an "accidental click", but the image is worth showing you, I guess!
And I enjoyed the views...As you can see, this portion of beach (front of Mika's, homes, all the way to Nathalie's) is a rocky coraline coast, but I saw people having a good time in these areas anyway.
Well yes, wonderful panoramas wherever you choose to look!Picture colors, depths and textures keep interestingly changing. As an example, the wave break area was farther away and the little boat was amid rocks, early at dawn.
This was looking south as I stood, still at Mika's Araw Beach Resort.Out there, behind the trees would be the coastal residences, down to Nathalie's and on to the rest of the resorts, until further south to the non-rocky white sandy beach.
But the best part for me in this resort was my tunganga mode, at no less than this:Ah, that big fat old very lazy but friendly doggie dog did come to check on me for no more than five minutes! It laid on the sand near the hammock, then went elsewhere!
Maybe it realized "wala akong mapapala sa pulubing ito"! Or, baka naghihilik ako!
Wait, before we end this, here's a pronunciation tip for you:
Mika is pronounced with a hard and audible guttural stop on the last syllable. Mi-ka as in palaka, manika, sira, mataba. Then you add an "s" sound for the 'apostrophe s'.
It's actually a bit awkward pronouncing [ mi·kâ·s ] because the "ka" is maragsa, as it doesn't flow well from throat to front teeth. But the caretakers drop the "s" instead!
So it is fine to just say Mika!
Okay alright, let's wrap this up!
I must say this was a wonderful find. I mean, if I have earlier known that there is this resort, I would have stayed here. Oh well, there will always be a 'next time'. Sure yan!
