From Wind to Watts: Palay Winnowing Modernized

I am not really sure if what I heard was "kayas" or "kayab" or "kayag", but I know this activity - WINNOWING in English. PAGTATAHIP in Tagalog? Not sure about that too!
The act: separating the rice hull or husk (chaff and other impurities) from the 'usable grains' by making them fly away, when poured from a "nigo" (big bilao) at head level!

Ang hirap pala i-describe nyan mapa-english o tagalog! Good that I have that photo! But many Pinoys know 'winnowing', for I recall that word was in a gradeschool song!

If you're Pinoy, I'm sure you will agree, what many of us remember, is the very same "activity" in the picture without those electric fans, right? Only with wind and gravity.

Well, farming methods have apparently (or is it obviously?) been upgraded! At akala natin mga cellphone lang ang nagle-level up? Meron din pala sa palay harvest time!

And it can now be done just in front of your very own house, at center of town!

That's why I had to stop and "record the scene", as it was my first time seeing that. I watched manang for a bit of time. I asked permission ha? She said 'oks no problem'!

And I liked her "oks" response. Aba, level up na rin ang communication styles dito!

Well.., the changing 'technologies' of our time...!

What place comes to mind when you hear the phrase "Pink Sisters"? Hmm, yes, Baguio, then Tagaytay - in that order, right?! But did you know there is also such a monastery in Cebu? Fernan Library, CRMC and Lunch

Still smiling at my experience with the old ladies, I continued walking down the street to get back to my hotel. Hmm, passed by a single level building with a nice frontage, green with grass, plants, shrubs and trees. The sign says “Judge Wenceslao Fernan Memorial Library”. It looks more like a residential house than anything else. I inched towards the driveway and craned my neck if anything was alive there. Nothing… no sounds nor movements. But it really looked like a residential house. I backed lest I be pounced upon by dogs hehe. I couldn’t make out of what’s inside there! At the corner straddled by CRMC and the bank, I saw a lot of police men & women who all seemed to be too young to be true. They were just either talking to each other at the sidewalk across CRMC or drinking sodas at the store. Others seemed to be just lazing around by the front of that bank across the school. THE BOULEVARD, Surigao City

Virtually everyone in Surigao City is related to this boulevard directly or indirectly! It's such a big thing , they even have a Surigao City Boulevard Development Program and a Surigao City Development Authority . I'm not joking. Those are for real. As in! Involved in it are not only their local politicians but also the chambers of commerce. What is it anyway? Foremost it's a 1.8 kilometer stretch of a highway along the seafront. The concrete pavement tells me it is still new. That is it! Walang basagan ng trip! It is an emulation (kumbaga sa Tagalog pa: gaya-gaya ) of Roxas Boulevard in Manila, or pwede rin Dumaguete’s Rizal Boulevard - and many other seafront boulevards. Aside from being a “park” for the residents, it is supposed to be an attraction in the city, showcasing whatever bla-blah-blah to attract tourists from everywhere on earth.
