First Dinner And Night-out

It is common among Boracay visitors that they "explore" the evening & night scene, especially during their first night upon arrival on the island. Right? Same with us, even if it's our nth time being around!

There is always a plethora of dinner options, that you can openly say no two nights are ever the same. And that includes unexpected or accidental choices (it happened to us) but w/ no regrets whatsoever.

Here was the plan:
After the sunset watch, that we did at Villa De Oro, we headed back to Astoria Current, supposedly to change into our "dinner wear" and hit the beach again. Well yes, this friend is 'outfit concious', though I find it fun 'abiding' by his kind of social etiquette hehe! Iba ang suot each time we sit on a table. Da!

Anyway, the plan was... hit a real restaurant first (for dinner), and then hop among as many bars as we could, for drinks and music! We and other friends usually do that. A drink or 2 at a bar then 'move on'!

Here was what actually happened:
When we arrived at Astoria Current, we realized there's some kind of a bar/restaurant at the 2nd floor, and even a similar thing on the 3rd floor (roof deck area). Thus, we decided to check those places out!
We didn't go to our room yet. We walked up that 'outside stairs' and saw a restaurant on the 2nd floor.

The restaurant is setup like in the olden days, with a live band, a wide screen, and my friend liked it!
I knew how every sound would pierce my ears and my head if we entered - so I requested that we just eat at the veranda tables, non-airconditioned but with views of the beach and the people strolling by.

Fortunately (or unfortunately?) our first order upon being seated was a bucket of beer (SanMigLight)!
Like little children, we were amused at the buckets that Astoria uses - they're too big for just 6 bottles of beer (one bucket!), they each have lights that can flicker or change colors, full of in-house tube-ice!

We got busy talking about the bucket, the ice and the lights. We didn't pay much attention to food!
When the waiter asked us what we wanted to eat, I remember I asked back what is your bestseller. He said something that I didn't understand, as I was immersed looking at our beer bottles that appeared to be green, though I remember my friend said something like 'sige, yun na lang plus two cups of rice'.

When it arrived, we instinctively looked at each other wondering if this really was our dinner hahaha!
Not that we don't like it, we salivate for it! Yet in today's knowledgeable health conscious society, and at our age, that's already considered 'sinful'! Well, since it was already there, I said "let us sin tonight"!

And the topic switched a bit (just a bit) to: if we each brought our "daily maintenance" hahaha!

In a moment, our attention was back to the 'style, location, crowd, musical genre of/at this restaurant' that we thought was somehow outdated, although we liked looking at it/them from our outside table!
Oh even if we were seated outside, waiters were always there to assist us. And each time they opened that glass door, we would hear the singing from inside (live band, OR guests on the videoke machine).

There is actually a (very) loudspeaker on this veranda, so people on the outside tables could hear the music (that's good since we could see everything-inside via the glass walls). But it was me, myself and I, who requested that the volume be decreased (later totally shut), as there were only 2 of us anyway!

But I did not know, each time the glass door opened, someone was getting 'enticed' to sing too. Ayan!
Hindi magpapahuli sa makabagbag-damdaming... My Way! That waiter in white even said 'ayun naman pala sir eh'! Magaling naman iyang kaibigan ko, in fairness! We even heard applause from those inside tables (and waiters), everytime my friend finished a song! So, anupangaba, ginanahan! Kanta pa more!

Kanta pa more, therefore... bucket pa more! Next time we checked, it was time to hit the sack!

So ayun na nga... ganda ng planong 'bar-hopping', eh we didn't even get out of our hotel!

But we said let's do that tomorrow!
