Marcela's Resort Hotel, Gamay

Image
From Araw Beach , near the northern end of Gamay, I was en route to Gapo Beach, at next-to-last southern-most barangay of this same town. Before entering the gate to Mika's Gapo Beach Resort though, I saw the inviting gate of Marcela's Resort Hotel . I told my driver "let's pass there first, to check it out". And so, we entered ! Nicely done, therefore 'enticing entrance' to a hotel/resort in the middle of nowhere. Yet dumb, because not easily readable. I call that material "the damn stainless steel" . There are many of that all over the world. The latest I can recall are Adamson U, UP Tacloban, Brgy Sampaguita Village, Oakridge Business Park, Adoration Convent etc. Some of those who sought my advice had to paint them over so the letters wouldn't reflect anything! My joke: "di lahat ng mamahalin ay mabuti"! But stainless steel lasts. Anyway, 'wag na natin pag-deskitahan yan. It's artsy anyway. Let's go in! ...

Han Gang Again

Image
Hey folksie-folks, I was back at this Korean Restaurant called Han Gang in Pusok, Lapulapu. Not that I crave for anything in this place, but, by virtue of proximity, this has been (and still is) is my go-to (best choice) in Pusok area! I went there tonight! This time I had beef soup and a cup of rice. Like their other authentic Korean dishes I have tried before, this one tasted oh so good. This is also NOT spicy, thus, I liked it. And, 'wheresoever' they get that from, the beef is of really good kind. For you my readers who are (like me), not (yet) too familiar with K-restaurants, if you are also wondering what those 'little dishes' are for, I only call them "the trimmings"! They're are the usual side-dishes this 레스토랑 serve together with whatever kind of main dish you order. Most of them I never dare touch. Why? Ayoko ng mahanghang! That cute bastardized word 'mahanghang' comes from my nephew, at ginaya ko na! Oi, there weren'...

Rosario's Kitchen and Café

Another fairly new (to me) restaurant at the Tacloban Astrodome. Friday night, I arrived late in Tacloban from hinter-mountain-barangays of Burauen. I wanted a sea view dinner , to rest my eyes & soul from depressing scenes of the day. Driver said "challenge accepted" - as if I did not know, he was heading to Cafe Lucia hahaha! Alas di malas, it was full to every corner, me birthdayhan pang nagaganap! We ambled forward, rounding the Astrodome although we already knew every place would also be packed with diners - on a Friday night kaka-sweldo lang two days ago! Both driver and I prefer bars or restaurants facing Cancabato Bay for the views, and we usually park in front of the Samgyupsal place that we never visit - it's always full ! But, voila! A big group of young-and-old folks were just about leaving the restaurant beside Samgyeopsalicious. Driver even ran to grab one of their outside tables haha! I may be prone to forgetting this-and-that from-time-t...
