Tune Hotel KLIA 2
In Kuala Lumpur, I wouldn't stay at the airport vicinity, ever, since there are too many better and exciting things to see or do at the city's downtown areas. But, if it is for a quick or short layover, this hotel (connected to KLIA2 via its own walkway) is the best.
My arrival from Singapore was 1905H, yes alas-syete ng gabi, and departure to Cebu was 1114H, alas-onse ng umaga, the following day. Impractical to still go downtown.
In fact, I could have stayed (tambay ba) in the terminal itself (T2) or even roamed the mall (Gateway@KLIA2). But overnight? Ayaw, not confident (yet). This is not Changi!
The transit hotel, capsule whatever, or even Plaza Premium Lounge are nice enough options. But if there is something like this - a budget hotel in a separate building but nearby, has its own safe and secure walkway, why not try it for the experience, diba?
So I booked a room, and... how was it?
Good enough for a budget hotel. Okay, I'm done. Bye. Hahaha!
Well look, this was my bedroom, Room 151, at the end of a hallway.
As is common with budget hotels, its "tight" for 2 people. But me alone, no issue!
A thing I like with budget hotels, no closets or aparador! Hangers are enough for me.
I like a full-height mirror facing the bathroom. Many budget hotels don't have that.
For a new hotel, this wall-mounted TV is tiny. But oks lang, I rarely watch, I write!Especially this time, where I had an 'awkward' layover period, no time to be 'atrevida'!
I would have (normally) wanted to look here-n-there. Like what was my window view (I think it was T2); why there's a big old ceiling fan when the room has good A/C; etc.
Can you believe I even forgot to snap even just a single photo of the toilet and bath? That was highly irregular of the atrevida me! Hmn, sobrang puyat sa Saigon kagabi?
Maybe! Well, sleep was (is?) 'of utmost importance', and that bed did not disappoint.
Oh come to think of it, I only saw while reviewing my pictures now, there was a card at the base of the red lampshade, and it says: "Chase your dreams! But first, sleep".
May sa tama, 'no?!
But first, I had dinner hehe! Right in this hotel. They do have a restaurant... and bar!Menu pa lang, naaliw na ako! Makan (the restaurant's name) is a Malay/Indonesian word that means Eat or Let's eat as a verb. But it can also be a noun meaning Food.
It's equivalent in our inang bayan would be Mangan (Pampanga/Ilocos).
They serve lunch and dinner only, but the very first menu entry is "all day breakfast".That, is the Frequent-Fryer (aliw ako sa pangalan). Nice enough breakfastlike dinner that called for a pairing with 'draught beer' - although me just a little konting sablay!
When I was ordering, I asked the waiter on "what's a sourdough and what's a brioche" (for I do not really know). He asked other waiters, none could describe those to me.
In a little exasperation, I said "okay okay, just make sure the egg is scrambled". Noong lumabas, ayan na nga sa picture, I compared everything with the menu description.
"All accounted for", except si sourdough and/or si brioche, kung sino man sila, wala! At ano'ng ginagawa ni pork-and-beans sa Frequent-Fryer ko? Lasang Hunt's, pramis!
Well, I did not complain. Masarap naman lahat, kahit iba ang 'narrative' sa menu! Oh while eating, I googled sourdough and brioche. Jesumalusep! Tinapay! So, wala nga.
But the process reviewer quality auditor atrevida me noted: little things matter!
Natulog ng mahimbing..,
Nagising and had a look-around on the way to breakfast. My room!
The elevator door, the hallway and its window with a view of T2 flyover...
An odorous reminder at the lobby! Oh I didn't know mangosteen has offensive smell.I mean I have always been devouring mangosteens in Davao or from Davao (thanks NinoRenz, Dra. Belen, et al.!), but I haven't caught any offensive or deplorable whiffs.
Hmm, that's something new to me. Therefore, subject to my masusing pagsusubok at pagsasaliksik. I haven't even seen such a signage in Thailand, Indonesia or India.
Ta! Baka ang mangosteen ng Malaysia lang ang may di kaaya-ayang amoy hahaha!
This is that chill place I was at last night (at right), shared by Makan and Minum.Makan (the restaurant) is where that girl stands guard hehe (it's free breakfast time); Minum (the bar, a watering hole) is/was behind my right elbow as I shot that photo.
I was in this table last night, but transferred to a table-for-two at Minum to give way to a big group, although after dinner, I ended up at that loungy, open-air quadrangle! There is something notable about this area of Tune Hotel. Look at the glass walls of that restaurant. You can see a reflection of some of the rooms at the opposite side.
Some guests from 'a number' of those rooms were bantering with their companions and/or colleagues who were down at this place - mga sigawan, kantyawan, harutan.
I thought 'di naman siguro wakanga groups ang mga 'to,' pare-pareho nasa about 20s to 30s ang hitsura eh. But there were noticeably too many of them. I asked a waiter.
Aruu, so I learned... those youngsters are cabin crew of Air Asia. But, other than the proximity to the airport and their AirAsia headquarters, my waiter doesn't know how, why, when they come to stay in this hotel and for how long. Oo nga, waiter lang sya!
Kung maka-tanong kasi ako, parang head of in-flight services ang kausap ko ahehe!
But that was new information new learning enough! Let's have mandatory breakfast! This is inside Makan, the restaurant where Tune Hotel guests enjoy a free breakfast.
Sorry, I only took pictures of remaining areas that didn't have people yet. At 6:43AM, it looked like I was late for photo-ops, madami nang tao! It's a free buffet breakfast.Ay, though madaming tao, I think not all guests are entitled to a free buffet breakfast. I saw some who went to (preferred?) the vending machines for coffee tea or snacks.
Bahala them! Basta ako "entitled" hahaha. Mandatory pa nga!
Why do I call it mandatory? Ah, you already know I'm not a breakfast fan. But when it is my 1st time in a place, mandatory yan for me to see/feel it for the sake of this blog! Those are what I had. Carbs, laman-tyan din yan para wag na mag-tapsilog on board.
Sige let's wrap this. There's a dainty fresh-looking open-store by the lobby. There are fruits, juices, sandwiches, etc. And OMG that lobby gets crowded at check-out time!
I think I'll be back.=====================================
