Intercontinental Bali Resort: My Room
There is nothing much to tell about this resort, since most everything is already all over the web, right? But I will try my best, to say something as experienced, which I hope will not just be another duplicate!
It's not just a simple luxury resort, it is sprawlingly wide. I estimate the length of the whole compound to be somewhere at about 500 meters. Yes, half a kilometer! What is my basis? Ah, my phone's health app said so when I checked how long I walked. The stretch, from street to beach is about 300 meters.
Ayan, that's 300 x 500 meters, wider than a sports complex, sinlawak ng isang barangay! Lalaban?
My room? eh I ran out of superlatives. Basta malaki. I might as well just show you pictures hehe..,I loved the wooden floor. No carpets, rugs, ceramic or porcelain tiles. Simple elegance - wood!
I also liked it that they retained that olden tradition of having drinking water by the bedside..,Mind you, complimentary water in this resort comes in "glass" bottles, hindi plastic!
That bulaklak on the lamp shade was the lei they put on my neck during arrival. Doon ko nilagay! These flowers and fruits on the coffee table at foreground, are all fresh! And there's already that plate with knife and table napkin, handy anytime you want to slice those fruits. The little things that matter!
Naaliw ako dito: you can visit the bathroom via that "walk-in closet with a dresser", yuyuko ka lang!Otherwise, sa kaliwa talaga ang totoong daan, near the main door. After that real door, the banyo and that walk-in closet with a dresser have their own respective doors, aside from this one facing the bed!
And this is the spacious bathroom with a full length bath tub and all the amenities you need! You can see reflected on the mirror is the shower cubicle, but not captured in this picture is the toilet. Both shower stall and the toilet seat have their own glass doors. Daming pinto! Pwede mag-taguan!
You can see in the first picture above, hindi bintana ang meron dito, but a French Door to this balcony! There is even a wooden rack at left (not in picture). Sampayan nung mga basa na pang-swimming!
Still as you can see in the 1st picture above, the French Door is clear glass. But there's the usual drape and sheer liner (kurtina ba). But if that is still not enough for you, there are louvered wood panels too!Kung hindi pa rin mapanatag ang loob mo dyan.., ah didto ra mo sa bath tub pag kuan oy! Pag-istorya ba, hehehe hahaha! Look, the wooden panels even still use the "hook-and-eye" lock system. Nostalgic!
Okay, so what were the amenities in my room? Ah eh, simple elegance, again..,
Firstly the fruits.., not a fruit basket (I guess).., should I call it a fruit tray? Oi, there is Salak on top!
Then there's a daily paper and magazine to perk up your thinking brain (ok lang magkunwari, ano ba)!
The cabinet where the TV sits, actually contains these.., [everything at right, me bayad]I saw on the bottoms of those cups were printed "Legacy Elegant Bone". Hmm, that only shows that this place does not only architecturally incorporate Balinese Culture, it also patronizes local products!
Do you know about "Legacy"? It's an internationally acclaimed brand of porcelain and fine china ware from Bogor, Indonesia. Yep, they have a very long list of clients if only to prove they're one of the best.
Here's a collage of three pictures.., in the middle is the glass-bottled free water I mentioned above. At left, the dark bottle is an Australian red wine (2012) and the green bottles behind it are two kinds of Equil premium mineral water (sparkling and natural). The bedside desk at right is a vintage! If you look at it closely, you'll notice there are 3 switches (room light, foyer, night light) and 1 rotary button (ceiling fan)! I tried all of them, they still work. Wow! Gadgets of yesteryears still serving their purpose today!
Here's another collage, and there's another vintage too! First picture at left, do you know what it does? Yes, in the recent past all good hotels had 'centralized' air-conditioning systems where each room had its own temprerature control for thermostat and air speed. And they still work perfectly fine here. Aliw! The figurine in the middle is the stem (stand) of the 'work-desk' lamp (see 3rd picture above). Paalala kabayan, hindi free souvenir yan. Paalala lang naman! Oh the last picture at right is a modern gadget we tourists always need, right? Minabuti ng Intercon, ilagay na mismo yan in each room. How clever!
Oist kabayan na stewardess, hindi rin ini-uuwi yan. Madami nyan sa 7Eleven, mura lang, pramis!
Here's another collage, the shower, the inidoro and napa-isip ako ano yan, saksakan na me switch?Hesumalusep! Lagayan ng hair dryer yung bilog, and when you make saksak, kelangan pa i-switch-on para total safety. Eto.., mali yata ako (sana hindi), I used that para magsaksak nung plantsa! Maluwag kasi ang space dyan (sa tabi nung lady's dresser) kahit nasa loob ka pa ng walk-in closet na tinatwag!
I won't lie, this was the first I saw that kind of ceramic toilet paper cover - pang-dalawang rolls talaga!Actually, what I liked about that is: very handy syang lagayan ng cellphone mo habang umiiri ka! Diba?
That 'tissue-box' is carved wood. It must have taken time to supply the resort's need for such boxes!Hey I just remembered someone asked me sometime ago, bakit daw ang magnifying mirror madalas malapit sa saksakan. Ang sagot, you usually use both of them when shaving (hotels assume you use an electric shaver hehe). Ako nagkaroon din ng tanong: bakit yung isang J-pop travel friend ko always hangs his charger sa magnifying mirror? Sus, he charges his fone pala sa 'shaver only' kasi 110 volts!
The bathroom 'condiments' of my room (I think different room types have different bottles)..,That box contains Facial Soap. Then from lef-to-right: Hand & Body Lotion, Conditioner, Shampoo and Bath & Shower Gel - all in Lemon Verbena scent from Agraria San Francisco. Plus, kalachuchi hehehe!
Iba pa yung nakalagay sa shower stall and tub, the box is labeled Bath Soap.
Yung box sa harapan.., toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss. Yung sa likod ang laman kung anu-ano!Me panglinis ng tenga, meron pantali ng buhok, shower cap, pang-alis-kati, oops I mean pang-alis ng makeup, pang-shave (yuhng hindi umaandar ha?), pang-liha ng kuko, karayum, sinulid.., walang beer?!
Face towels and hand towels lang.., sa taas nila na shelf yung malalaking bath towel..,Like many resorts and hotels, they also have those cards that encourage guests to be concerned and care for the environment suggesting we reuse not too soiled towels, ganun-ganun para tipid sa tubig.
Tubig? Aha, let's go out of the room and head to the pools and the beach!
In my next story!
