Infinity Suites, Davao

I've been to Davao City many times, but I haven't heard about this hotel yet. My recent circumstances however, led me to this "good enough" find for a quick overnight. There was a year-end function that I needed to attend in this area of the city. The event venue is a good hotel itself but I was unable to grab a room there. I gave way to fellow attendees who came in groups or families. Sayang kasi ang space!

So, I looked for a nearby accommodation via google maps. One that would be within walking distance to the venue. Why? Because the event was a very early morning (dawn) wedding! Yes kasal, KASAL sa kaadlawon OMG. Hep, just saying OMG but not complaining! I was one of those who 'pushed' for this!

That's what the couple wanted, so let them be. It's their day, not yours. Walang basagan ng trip 'no?!

About my trip.., this was a hectic run! +29DEC Arrive 4PM from Cebu, +30DEC 5AM attend wedding at Ritz Garden Oases, +30DEC 1030AM Davao to Cebu flight, on arrival lunch meeting at Waterfront, and +30DEC 4:55PM Cebu to Singapore flight. Less than 24Hrs in DVO, I said Infinity Suites would be fine!

Anyway and okay.., about this hotel.., I'll say this is one good find in the center of the city. Why do I say that? Well, foremost reason is I did not expect to find anything this good in the area. This is the Obrero District of Davao City. An urban center with nearby schools (one is a university in fact), yet the place is quiet and I didn't see crowds of locals. Maybe because this was still the Christmas (year-end) season!

The room I got was (I think) a deluxe whatever - the cheapest that means. But it was good enough. Oh well, the A/C was a bit old and roars more than what I would have wanted for a bearable homey noise.

Aha! Maybe the street was just too quiet that the air conditioner's rrrrrrrr came out so clear to my ears and my head hehehe. My bottomline though was properly met, that it was clean wheresoever I check.

Oh, I said clean, right? Yeah clean, such that, the cabinet space for a fridge was even literally 'cleaned'! As in walang laman - walang refrigerator, bakante, malinis, blanko! Malinis nga hehehe! I did not give a hoot this time though.., since I was only "renting" the room for just a little more than 12 hours anyway!

The bummer part was when I woke up at 4:00 o'clock AM and tried to have some coffee to perk me up for my 5AM event. There was a dual (hot and cold) water dispenser at the hallway, so I got "hot water" into my cup. When I put the coffee and creamer... disaster struck! I do not even know how to describe this. Either the 'hot water' was not hot enough or the coffee/creamer packs were stale. I suspected it was the latter because of how the sachets looked like, and I touched the cup, it was still warm. Look..,
This was first time in my life that I saw such a creased and crumpled sachet of coffee. So, what came to mind? That those are really old/stale products, that whoever placed them there attempted to crush the contents first, because, I felt (and saw) that they were not anymore 'powder' but caked or lumped.

Yuck!

Sayang, because I could really sense this was/is a good hotel in terms of structure and other aspects. Example: look at how things are presented, magaling. Sablay lang sa quality. But that's the most vital.

Many of you know me.., 'under normal circumstances', I would have raised hell all over this place and I don't usually care if it's a 4AM or 4PM. Then again, my 5AM event was ticking.., just an hour to go, and I still had to take a bath, change into my 'groovy' pang-kasal attire, and, walk to the Ritz Garden Oases.

Yes, tanginang yucky yaaaaak! But I could not let that stale coffee ruin my state of mind.

I needed to look fresh and jolly lively for the wedding ceremony activities! Plus, I knew there would be brewed coffee (perhaps even Coke) at the venue, therefore all the better! I tried to remember only that.

Lastly, the staff... ah, from the airport arrival (btw they misspelled my name on that placard hahaha) to the drivers, the guards, the bellhop (yes, meron sila nyan) and front desk, lahat were very pro to a fault!
Courteous, attentive, helpful - AND THAT is why I say "to a fault". They are not at all just friendly. They seem to live in FEAR! They are overly respectful, as if afraid to make any mistakes that would send me into a wild fury shouting all over the place haha! Other guests might/would consider this 'the epitome' in professionalism. But for me, NO it's not! In any case, I still enjoyed them treating me like king hehe!

All things considered, this is a good one, with good staff, 'wag mo lang papatulan, at tantanan mo ang sachet coffee nila sa room! That is what they lack now - quality control - baka kasi sobrang nagtitipid!

Let's go to a restaurant next.
