From my previous two stories last night (this & this), why am I all of a sudden in an airport hotel? Why am I not home? Ah its like this, I promised a night-out with friends, eh I was to depart today noontime.
So, we decided to have it at Waterfront Mactan - after I literally just dumped my labada from Tacloban, and grabbed a few things to wear going Indonesia via Singapore. Hectic but hopefully fun Christmas!
I will tell more about those in my succeeding stories. As for now...
Here I was again (about to checkout) from this hotel that I call a "no frills luxury". Yes me ganun!
The ultimate in convenience if you were departing from Cebu Airport the following day! I took the two pictures above while waiting for my turn to be checked-out. The colors, music and mood is Christmas!
Ah my most notable note about this holiday mode and mood, would be from last night. Here's a video:
We loved listening to those three kids playing Christmas Music. Tastefully, non-obtrusive live sounds to set the character for the holiday season, as if coming from a piped-in recorded music. Magaling!
I'm writing this at the boarding gate! Okay, boarding na.., leshgo!
Readers should all be aware of this when going to Puerto Galera or any of the destinations en route to Batangas City! There is an anomaly that the bus company (or probably just their employees and without the management’s knowledge) has been perpetrating. Last February 25, 2005, being a holiday, I, together with three of my friends decided to go to Puerto Galera for a much needed weekend break. We decided to take a JAM/Tritran bus by reason of its station being conveniently located at EDSA near Kamuning which happens to be nearest our residences. This decision to take Tritran ruined our weekend! We were at the bus station as early as 5:30AM so we can take the 6AM trip. We happily rode on bus number 727, a yellow JAM liner. The aircon was great – even too cold and the bus was clean. It got readily full to capacity so we left by just about 5 minutes past 6AM. Upon departure, the “conduktor” distributed tickets without asking for our money yet. After he has given tickets to everyone, he c...
A vow to roam the country... Yes, your PinoyTraveler (that's me) is not at all religious but just the same made a "solemn" vow to roam the Philippines as much as I can and as long as I ever live (whichever ends first - as if they don't go together hehe)! This vow was "solemnized" by the fact that this occurred during a Sunday mass! I was a young 20 year old then. Way back then, really! The Scene The 9:30AM mass, the last row (pew) St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida - as homily was in progress The Dialogue American Guy : (smiling and with great enthusiasm noticeably inched to get nearer to me and whispered)... "you a Filipino? a Pinoy?" PinoyTraveler : (also whispering and wondering why the urgency of the question) "yes sir, I am, why?" AG : It has been like ages since I saw a Filipino. I love Filipinos, the Philippines. In fact I married one! You see my wife there in the front pews? You will recognize her, s...
We’re still on the Tuba topic, and from Vino De Coco compound, we proceeded to this little house in Palo where many reputed personalities in the region buy their tuba by ‘containerfuls’ when they have celebrations or just about anything in their lives that require them to drink and serve tuba – which is actually ‘just about anytime, right?! But even the way going there was exciting enough for me. Look at the map and zoom it , this is the government center area with touristic sights. We passed by the Philippine Science High School (Eastern Visayas Campus), veering left amidst national government offices, on to the famous MacArthur Park and turned right towards The Oriental Hotel (previously The MacArthur Park Beach Resort). Then… we asked around as to where is Barangay San Fernando, only to be told were were already in it hehe. But we easily found EF Winery as they are very well-known in this neighborhood. They were also expecting us! Yep, the DTI has previously arranged all our visits....
