Ormoc Villa Hotel

Ormoc Villa Hotel is the same old grand hotel that had been so since I have been passing by the city. It does show signs of ageing here and there, but its "villa" charm still remains. In the middle of a city!

I'll be honest, this time, this hotel was not my first choice for an overnight stay. This was a 3rd choice!

First choice, Sabin, was full with attendees of an affluent family's event (a wedding?); plus, a battalion of government employees holding an in-house seminar ek-ek. Second choice, Hotel Don Felipe, would have been just fine, but there was an issue that required us to look elsewhere. Then, (after Don Felipe) we happened by this place, and I said "dito na nga lang"! Ayun, I ended up at Ormoc Villa Hotel, gladly!

Anyway, let us start with "last night", for that was the time we checked-in at this hotel..,

That was my room. Still the good old "villa" style (except that the ageing airconditioner is noisier now)!

If you ask me though, this is still definitely better than Don Felipe in the first place! Here are more:

Oh, in addition to the oldie aircon is an more aged exhaust fan inside the toilet/bathroom. It is just so noisy that it easily drowns the TV or any other sound in the room! Feel like you're riding a barko haha!

But that's just about it on the negatives.., everything else I oh so liked on this overnight stay..,

Even my driver loved the click-clack sound when leather shoes walk those steps. Mala-Dracula daw!

How would you like your dinner to be served at this patio...? Oh well, no string quartet this time hehe!

But there was softly piped-in music on the bossa side - that (genre) made me just shut-up and drink!

As usual, dinner for me and my driver is always the simple lutong-bahay fares like these..,

Pareho me sabaw, you might say? Well, this was a KKB (kanya-kanyang-binge) day! I liked escabeche, driver liked ribs! And btw, my yaya (the driver) has a clever way of hiding "extra-rice" during pictorials!

The garden at night.., this place still looks admirable as it did when it was still new decades ago!

My Room 206 is a corner-room somewhere at that far right side wing in the picture.

Many a memorable milestone of many a people from this side of earth, happened in this garden!

In the morning, I woke up to find the golden sun gently illuminating the hallways..,
Aw, that was a hyperbole! "Gently illuminating" daw eh ang init na kaya! Middle of March na. Summer!

Sabagay, my topic was "illuminating" and not "coolness", right? But look down the grass and the pool!

Doesn't it feel like "..and the grass with dew is wet..,"?! That's only 7:02AM, and the pool is so inviting!

Ah, this one, is not anymore common at hotels all over the world! Just a corner in an empty hallway..,

...but there's a sofa and other comforts.., I liked sitting there with coffee and the morning paper!

Eto pa.., what might this be? A cafe? A Tapas bar? Well, it was just as lovely as breakfast nook!

Those doors empty out unto al fresco tables, the grassy garden, and the pool! Nice morning haunts!

Lest I forget.., the front desk haha - with a veteran clerk.., o ha?!

Hey I did not notice they have a jewelry at the lobby! I only knew of the "sinelas" and magazines hehe!

The very last picture I took at this hotel? That one at the very top of this article!

And we already had to run for Merida!
