Where Is That Silver Lining
Tacloban to Cebu again. I've done this many times before. But I'm not complaining - except that I'm running out of anything to tell about this portion of my trips. Or do I?
What about this Tacloban Airport, again?
I keep saying, "I think I have seen and said everything about this wretched airport" be it praise-wise or rant-wise. Eh, I've been using this 'ugly edifice' ever since I was a brat.
But something that the Filipina candidate (in that recently-held Miss Universe thing) said, somehow left a mark in my head. She said something about "the silver lining"!
And she won pa, di ba? So I said 'that's a great life-skill'. But can I apply that here?Let's practice and find out! Practice finding that 'silver lining' in this poor, deplorable, wretched, shameful situation; and see if it makes us feel any better. I suspect it will!
Disappontment is after all just a product of our own appointment hehehe!
Hmm, I can see one silver lining in that mala-sardinas crowd. No partitions, it might be a good place to "people-watch"! Especially from that corner vantage near the CR!
"Adto man hi ku-an ka sexy la gihap", "aw oo kay scientific ito", "di ba an iya irong baga man ito hin palwa hadto", and all related "secret nga pan-tamay"! That, would be fun!
Now that would make you forget how uncomfortably crowded this place is!
That crowd, many times 3, 4 or 5 planefuls of passengers should also be a captured audience for live advertisements. Example? Make the Jollibee mascot romp around!
No words, no music, no hi-tech anything. Lakad-lakad lang, great advertising na! At baka sakaling maaliw ang mga pasahero, at makalimutan na wala nang maupuan!
Syempre, if you are a politician, a budding actress, a feeling alta or a feeling maganda who always wants to be publicly seen (aka KSP ka) this is THE spot & time to shine!
Caution: doon ka sa harap rumampa-rampa ha? Baka matisod ka sa bandang likod. Ayaw mo? It's a microcosm of the region, plus national & international visitors. Ata!
Hmm, teka anay daw... bakit parang puro dishonorable ang lumalabas na examples?
"Silver Lining" ba yan? Well, that's a bright fun side of the situation. Kesa aburido ka at laging nakasimangot realizing na ito lang ang services given by your government.
Ano naman gusto mo, palagyan natin sa walls & ceiling ng pagkalalaking billboards saying "This Is Where Your Terminal Fees Go"? Oh eh, di lalo tayong "poor and sad"!
I would like to believe that, anything that can make me 'smile', howsoever ridiculous they may be, should be a 'silver lining', at least to me, on my own standards hahaha!
Already!
Ewan ko ba, lampas na yata ako sa pagiging disappointed. Yung parang nalilipasan ka ng gutom. Lumilipas na lang ang sama ng loob dahil 'ala naman nangyayari. Da!
Now, your turn to search for the 'silver lining' in this pic, taken right after the above!Scenario Description: They're all trying to use the Female Toilet of this same airport. Male Toilet is to the right of the backpack of the squatting guy enjoying his 'sounds'.
Note, there's a mother-and-child also on the floor at the left portion of the picture (in case you didn't notice hehe). Child busy on her tablet, while mother is on the phone.
Where? How do we find the silver lining?
Mahirap ba? It takes time until we get used to "looking at the brighter side of things". Kasi, for us to "look and see", we have to know what is the "bright" we're looking for!
It is easier to identify the negative things. Is that human nature in general, or tayong mga Pinoy lang ang ganyan? Parang buong sangkatauhan naman yata ganyan 'no?!
We are such a species of angalysts!
Hep hep google auto-spell-checker, that is not a wrong spelling, umayos ka! You can even add that word to your dictionary. In fact, I want to emphasize on that letter "g"!
Angalyst. Definition: taga-angal, ma-angal, angal ng angal, angal dito angal doon.
Well, to Catriona, we hear you. It's not easy looking for the silver lining at places like a congested, yet frequently used airport. Mas madali umangal. But for you we shall!
Kay ini gad man nga birat mga taga CAAP, kay-ano nga kaiha na waray pa it mahihimo nga bag-o nga airport, damo man it pasahero nga nabayad hin sakto nga terminal fee!
Adto na! Mas madali kasi umangal. The radio stations trained us to, hahaha!
Another Evening Flight To Cebu
Okay, enough na muna of that airport. There's always a next time, aray ko! Let's fly!And of so many things, I only took a picture of my SkyTreat and that cute little bottle of vodka. Aw vodka.., tubig pala! Sa liit naman kasi, parang 'one-shot' ang dating eh!
And they have similar names. Absolut or Absolute, they are pronunced the same.
At 1834H of a December 23, yes it was already dark outside. Nothing else worthy to snap a picture of. So iyang mga yan, inside the plane, an ak nahimurangtan kodakan!
Non-issue, right? But this is not a rant page. Let's also talk about things wonderful! We can say: at least they serve something, eh doon sa dilaw at pula na eroplano, wala!
Optimist view: aba hoy, that is an Ube Roll baked for PAL by no less than Goldilocks. Pessimist view: hintay ka lang ilang buwan pa, mawawala din naman ang mga iyan.
Whatever. Basta for me, that thing is masarap, kaya dapat lantakan na agad, even if the bottled water may not be enough. Nakakahingi naman ng extra - I've tried once!
Oops, hindi ko pala kinain agad yan. Somewhere in my head was saying "it is almost 7PM, masisira ang dinner appetite mo"! Oo nga naman ano?! In the bag it went muna!
And... 27 minutes from take off... I saw lights, me buwan pa! Approaching Mactan.
Touch down at 7:03PM. I glanced at T2 and whispered, see you at 5AM tomorrow!
Oops OMG, why am I still writing it's almost midnight! We have to stop this, now na!
One more little singit na lang, immediately upon arrival of this flight from Tacloban, I rushed home to Lacion, to drop my dirty laundry and pick some needed documents.
Rushed back to Pusok for dinner at AA BBQ with some friends.
And and... I should sleep now.
Catch ya tomorrow, sweet dreams!
