Deng Long Dinner

Kainan na! It had to be outside our resort for all the right and bright reasons -- 1) my companion was a first-timer in Langkawi, so he should/must see as much of everything, everywhere; 2) I would not feel pathetically awkward dining at crowded places since I was not alone. I had company this time. Yehey!

No need to research or browse or anything. Our only 'rule' for the evening was: walk along Jalan Teluk Baru, until we find a restaurant we unanimously deem good to have dinner at. Based on what criteria?

Wala lang, "as long as we feel like it, that's it"! We actually had an idea, somehow, since this is the road we passed-by earlier on arrival from the airport. We saw that there are many restaurants (many kinds) on this road that looked cheaper than those at the resorts. They looked clean and inviting too. Ganun!

Well, we only strolled about a mere hundred meters, we've seen some restaurants, and we liked this:

My companion said "check.., check.., check.., check! Tara dito na lang"! Whatever that was, agree ako!

You can see their cuisine and prices everywhere in this restaurant. There are standees at the entrance, there is also a copy of their menu displayed there. Windows also have posters. Chinese restaurant eh!

You know what that is? That's a wall that had no windows. Floor to ceiling ang pictures. Ewan na lang!

On top of that, we each received a copy of a menu book. Look, our choices were on pages 15 and 17!

So it was easy to identify and weigh our choices - as if marami kaming oorderin, eh yun lang naman!

This place was not full, but many people (mostly foreigners), yet our food took only some 15 minutes.

So ayan.., that's it pusit! I am no foodie, so I don't know how to properly artfully reliably describe food.

Okay, compared to the pictures in the menu, our orders did not look like it! Baka faded na yung menu!

That is the duck. Yes da pato, itik, bibe, whatever. Masarap, Chinese style eh. And the skin was crispy!

By the way, intermission muna: Our "pato" as in "duck" in English is "itik" in Malay.

And this is the fish. Pramis, isda sya! Yes it is a fillet, but of we don't know of what fish. Malalaki eh!

If you compare each piece to what is/was in the menu book picture... very different. Pero masarap!

Ang ending.., nakaka-antok na busog. Burp! Eh I think, all Chinese restaurant-food, wherever it may be, have that same 'effect' on us! Yeah, msg na kung MSG.., pero masarap eh. Ang bawal.., masarap. Ang masarap.., bawal. Okay fine. Wheh, it's not as if I can afford to eat that kind of food everyday anyway!

The fish was MYR28, the duck MYR30, plus MYR2 for 2 cups rice = about 700++ pesoses!

Good night!
