How To Plan A Romantic Getaway In The Philippines

Image
Hmm and OhMyGee! That was my initial reaction, when one of you my dear readers, kept pressing me for a "how to". Not that I didn't like to do it nor that I don't have any idea, but more on "can I just tell you by email instead of asking me to post it in my blog, because it will be rather long. Very very, very long"! But here I am posting it on this blog anyway. That only means 'the requestor' succeeded! Okay fine! I have 10 questions for you to answer, in order to Plan For A Romantic Getaway In The Philippines . So, let's do this. Along the way though, as I tell you the "how to" things. I will be citing examples, using how and what happened to our dear 'requestor' who is now back in his own country "happily engaged'! 1. Firstly, What is Romantic? What does that word 'romantic' mean to you and/or your intended companion/s? That's the first most important 'first consideration', for one mem

Another Moon Story

Image
Not everything has a story Ah, if you like, you can make the story Like that moon I now see It always rises from the sea It is history and never really A story Well, tonight let me tell you my story Ganito kasi yan it's like this sugad ito hini ingon ani... [pamati honey] I walked out of Café Lucia, hindi nag-walk-out, naglakad lang, looking for yosi, naubusan ako kasi. The cafe's outdoor area is a "smoking also" place. But they don't sell yosi dahil daw kadiri. Okay, me ganun! Mrs Manang Tindera at the waiting shed has a lot of cigarettes, except that, she didn't have Marlights. She suggested that I try checking out those other places beside Café Lucia. Yun, that is why I walked! I saw this 'other place' that seemed to be a restobar or café or something like that. Basta, irignoman! The name is Aguz. Look, their signboard says "Beer Garden". Hmm, me beerhouse pa pala these days! Oops okay, not "beer house", I stand e

Dear BPI, Change E to Y, Please!

Image
Oh, this little piece of advise I saw this at BPI's ATM (Robinsons Mall Tacloban Branch).., Well, it says the message anyway, right? But it didn't keep me from smiling, knowing that some guard (sekyu, gwardya, ja-guar, bantay, chief) surely wrote that. Otherwise, oh how jologs of BPI staff, di ba? Di rin ako kagalingan sa englis, but then I guess this little note is proof that many of us Filipinos finish secondary education (high school) not mastering English grammar, pati na nga yata sa Pilipino, right? High school (yata) ang minimum qualification of a guard. But if they're not yet that 'communicative'.., sasabit tayo dyan.., Oh well... and mind you, on this very same day , BPI's ATM upstairs at the mall's second level (near The Handyman) also was the same kind of grammar. Oops, I meant, signage ngay-an. Upaya gad niyo BPI! At least, napapangiti tayo paminsan-minsan during our travels - kahit 'alang pera lahat nang ATM nila!

RELOC = Record Locator

Image
Here is a form I saw at the Customer Service Counter of Robinson's Tacloban... Because she was not busy, I tried 'educating' the sales lady manning that counter. I said 'maybe' their form should say "RELOC" (that means RE cord LOC ator) - it is an airline terminology that is also called "Computer Record", "Booking Record", "Booking Reference", "Booking Number" or many other names. BUT, not "relocation". Trust me, there is no such thing as "Relocation" or "Re-location" Number that any airline uses (or will use) in their booking systems and/or transaction terminologies all over this world. Ano yan, sumakay ka lang ng eroplano, "bakwit" na agad? Me pabahay (housing)? Re-location daw eh! In fact, "Relocation" or "Re-location" is quite a potentially misleading term/phrase for airline people to use, as it 'somehow' invites negative connotation on a pa

Enchanting Lights and Melodies: BGC

Image
Not as long and wide as that one at Ayala Avenue in Makati, there's also a mesmerizing spectacle that await young & young-at-heart visitors to Bonifacio High Street's park in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. A crystal-inspired light and sound show captivates your senses. At the center of this park is a gigantic magnificent "gift box" constructed from little crystal balls. These enchanting spheres change in color, synchronized with Christmas tunes and machine-produced smoke/fog and bubbles, plus laser lights. A symphony of lights adorn the real palm trees that gracefully line the park. They're wound around the trunks like luminescent ribbons, harmoniously pulsating and shifting colors in perfect rhythm with the accompanying music. Aliw factor to the max! A lovely and lively way to cheer shopping customers. Not just trees are adorned with lights, but all establishments that surround the park! Each building has an array of blinking lights, suspended in

Island-Spotting From Up In The Air

Image
I already said this before, I don't like arriving in Manila during afternoons. And you of course know why that is so, very heavy afternoon-to-evening rush-hour traffic, AS IN, right? But there are just times when and where we don't have a choice. Today was one of those dreaded days for me - ETA MNL at 1515H. Somewhere in me was actually saying "that may still be fine", so cheer up! Add to that, I was riding on my most disliked airline for domestic flights, the red plane. Though usually the cheapest, in my experience, they're usually the dirtiest among the three. But what else can I do, eh I only learned last night, that I am needed in Manila tomorrow morning. So theirs, was the best flight I could grab! Available flights on the other two were either already too expensive or very early like 6AM! Yet somewhere in me also said "this is fine, e sumasakay ka naman dyan pag international flights eh"! True, and in fairness, planes of Philippines' Air

Brunei Tour: Royal Regalia Museum

Image
This has reference to the last sentence I said in the previous blog story where I was supposed to have been done with my day's worth of roaming Bandar Seri Begawan. But, my driver/guide offered that we peep at this museum as it is just across Radisson Hotel where I was billeted. Of course I said let's go! My guide knew that I was supposed to see this museum tomorrow morning, but he said we could just have 'a quick look-around' for him to tell me 'this-and-that', so I would know what to look for tomorrow, when I come back alone. There's no entrance fee anyway - but better if still annotated by a local guide. So we entered the museum. Here's my guide registering (required) at the information counter for me! Note that all visitors are supposed to do the registering for themselves by writing on that logbook. But as you can see, guide did that for me. Maybe because I was a VIP (very ignorant person)! What is next? You'll be given a key to a locker

Brunei Tour: Kiarong Mosque

Image
Don't be confused, what many Bruneians refer to as Kiarong Mosque or Masjid Kiarong is actually the Jame' Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque - the biggest and most important mosque in their whole country. And why are we talking about it? Alams na.., Pinoy Made! Pero mamya na yan, yung tour ko muna! Just about 15min leisurely drive from Istana Nurul Iman, I could already see it from the road. Exciting! Why was I excited? Eh, this was that thing I saw on arrival day , and I said this was on my bucket list. In my bucket list? Yes, because, while I see it everytime I pass from/to the airport, I haven't been to it yet! Here's an interesting part of BSB (short for BS Begawan, short for Bandar Seri Begawan).., a rotunda! Clean and beautifully simple as it looks, it is not that 'ordinary' (kaya ko nga pinektyuran eh)! Under the roundabout with flowers and greens is actually the wide highway, Lebuhraya Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. It's not a tunnel. It's like an
