Danang Beach Comparisons
Is Danang Beach a good tourist destination? My 'expert' answer is: GO! Now na!
Let's talk about this famous beach, since this is where I stayed during my visit. Those huts are at Holiday Beach Hotel's Beach Club. I was at the bar for that photo.
In front of all the huts, I looked to the left, and this was my view...Still gloomy and hazy at 0832H. Well, this was Christmas Day. I think on this date, it is also like that in the Philippines, even all of Southeast Asia. I do remember, Bali is.
This kind of beach shoreline goes all the way to, almost encircling those hills. That's the Sơn Trà Peninsula (still in Danang), and there are many things to see or do there!
For one, the Inter-Continental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is there, maybe 15~20 kilometers from this beach club. Then white sands again, up to the Xoan Peninsula.
It doesn't stop there, as white sandy beaches line all of Hue, all the way to Nghe An.
Yet you don't have to go that far. Just seeing those buildings by the shoreline would amaze you with A1-Brand-Names like Grand Tourane, Maximilan, Mandila, Wyndham Soleil, Radisson, Four Points Sheraton, Hilton Garden, Sel de Mer, Radisson Red, The Peninsula, Fusion Suites, Le Sands. And those are just what I saw while passing-by!
Still in front of the beach club, I looked to the right, and this was my view...Ahw, that's the even longer, more affluent stretch of fine sandy beaches, with names that define luxury too! Yarra, Premiere Village Accor, Pullman, Furama, TIA Wellness.
Continuing south, there's Olalani, Crowne Plaza, Hyatt Regency, Marriott, KOI, Melia, Mandarin Oriental, Fusion Resort, Sheraton Grand, Shilla, ayayay Hội An na pala yan!
Thành phố Hội An or Hội An City, is the next locality after Da Nang City.
But that beautiful white sandy beach does not stop, and you continue to see names of opulence like Radisson Blu, Four Seasons, Wyndham Hoi An, Citadines, The Linh, Palm Garden, Rennaisance. There's just the Thu Bồn River yet it goes on way south.
Hahaha, while driving, my friend even said "ano ba yang nililista mo, ang layu-layo na natin ah"!
So, why did I want to see/know all those big names I mentioned above?
I just wanted to guage (on my own terms) how different the tourism environment of Danang is, compared to the tourist destinations (that I have been to) in our country.
Verdict? Medyo malayo ang agwat! I mean malayo pa tayo in terms of capturing the international market. I am not saying that's bad for us. I mean, we can still do more!
Aren't I being too hasty in saying that? Not really. Just by knowing that those hotels and resorts of international repute exist here, is already a statistical "proof-enough"!
Wheh? 'Di nga?! Oo ganun yun, pramis. Kasi...
Those hotel/resort chains and tourism-related companies aren't managed by fools. Meticulous market checks are performed before they setup their brands anywhere.
Therefore, if they are all already setup in Danang, we (as in you and I) don't need to dig up statistics... it's already very sure that more internaitonal tourists come here!
I mean here in Danang (I am writing this here and now, before I sleep)! I can't say all of them are always full to the brim, dahil tingin ko, parang di naman lahat eh hehehe!
Yet all I can say is: "Nakaka-inggit. Sana all"!
In fact, I have not seen a single place in the Philippines that has that impressive list of international luxury hotels and resorts, in a row OMG! As in milyamilya ang haba!
I'm not saying 'wala tayo nyan'. We do have our own 'ipagmamalaki' - madami, multi-awarded pa nga eh. Those awards and recognitions, however, should translate into more guests, for more job opportunities and/or derivative businesses for us Pinoys.
Tantya ko Danang has a bigger-slice-of-the-pie if compared to Boracay na mas sikat. But that should be a 'good news' to us! That means the tourism market is still wide.
Ganito kasi yan... those 2.9 million who went to Danang in 2017 might be interested in PH naman for a 'next vacation'. Baka yung iba pumunta na, but promote pa more!
Majority of travelers/vacationers/roamers don't keep returning to the same place, di ba? Next time, sa atin naman sana sila!
It'll be easy to detect if international tourists are significantly trooping to our side as those big hotel and resort companies I named above, will definitely set up shop too!
For now, those that we have are already employers-enough for many Pinoys. But as we see here in Danang the tourism industry still has room for growth in our country.
Sige, ituloy ang balitaktakan... baka naman daw the beach in Danang is so fantastic that they are able to draw so many tourists? Weh, I'm not sure I will say "yes" to that!
Not naman like-thatan hehehe!
Glan Sarangani, San Vicente Palawan, Balud or Aroroy Masbate pwede! Meron pang the whole of Zambales (na nakaharap pa nga dito sa Danang)! Marami tayo nyan oi!
To be sure, syempre sugod si ako sa dalampasigan nang makita ng malapitan. Eto: Wadyatink?
Actually, someone told me that there were noticeably very few people on that beach this day (Christmas Day). Yet, the presence of so many luxe resorts tells something.
There are many factors why those internationally trusted brands have a presence in Danang, compared to Pinas, na sana lang pag-aralan yan ng ating mga kinauukulan.
Maybe it's also the sheer length of the white sand beach stretching for kilometers?White sand in this pic is already about 6 kilometers. Onwards and behind those hills (Sơn Trà Peninsula) white beaches continue all the way to Nghe An, even Haiphong.
To Haiphong? That's about 800 kilometers, halos isang araw pag nag-drive ka hehe! Yet going south or opposite direction (rightwards from that pic), is even way longer.
Not being composed of islands like ours, is probably an advantage, that's why many tourists roam the east coast of Vietnam, driving or riding buses from place to place.
Aruu, meron pa palang tren at pwede rin lumipad if you like.
Gaano ba talaga kahaba yan? Well, imagine you this... mula Pagudpud hanggang sa El Nido na dugtong-dugtong puro white sand beach, pili ka lang saan ang gusto mo!
Ganyan kahaba yan, mula sa Haiphong in the north down to Nha Trang in the south.
Teka, mangunguntrabida uli... please look again at the shoreline in the photo above. Did you notice the waterline is irregular? As in liko-liko, not one smooth straight line that runs parallel to the sand? That is an indicator there are rip tides or rip currents.
That is probably one reason why there are many signs that say "no swimming". Da! Yet, and then again... marami pa rin turista ang nagpupunta sa kanila! Ka-inggit ha?!
Anyway, the best part of Danang's beach/es I think is/are the surroundings... I have been trying to recall, it looks like I don't see that kind of development along or beside any of our beaches in the Philippines. Meron ba? Parang wala pa 'ata eh 'no?
Anyway again.., maybe soon we should have similar infrastructure at our beaches if only to wow more tourists, to gain more businesses and/or employment for Pinoys.
The beauty of traveling.., we get to compare and learn from other places.
Tara let's go elsewhere!
