Caluwayan Palm Island Resort: Beach Villas
After the Sohoton Cave and Natural Bridge Park experience in a jungle, would it not be a good itinerary to hie off next to a nice seaside resort for dinner and overnight stay? And early the next morning go on an island hopping tour with a dog? That is what we did.., at Caluwayan Palm Island Resort in Marabut!I've been to this resort many times, usually just for meals (with a fantastic view) as this is located just along the highway where we pass when traveling from Tacloban to Guiuan, Borongan and those other towns in the southern part of Eastern Samar. I brought the friends here as I was sure they'd like it. Yey!
Call it good timing! We arrived at the resort on a fine breezy afternoon with the sun about to set.,Everything that sunlight could still reach was already turning gold. "A tantalizing view" - as one friend I too brought here said sometime ago. "Kon harapit na an adlaw matunod", as they say in a Waray Song!
Tip: where I stood taking the last 4 pictures above is the only part of the resort that has cellular signal! There's none in that hotel building nor at the more expensive but roomier Beach Villa Suites where we stayed. And, I think it will be this way for a longer period of time, since this area is sparsely populated!
Anyway, here's a snippet of what is 'inside a Beach Villa at Caluwayan Palm Island Resort'..,
A double and a single bed..,
The sinks are outside the bathroom. Very ideal and very practical, right?
Stairway to the attic/loft area..,
There is one bed upstairs but it could fit two people if need be!We got three of these beach villas. Candle-lit dinner was on the grass beside the middle of the 3 villas!
It was a fun and memorble night. No blaring karaoke this time, just plain old kwentuhan amidst food and drinks with the gentle lapping of waves and nocturnal sea/forest creatures as background music!
In the morning, as soon as we woke up.., we went island hopping. That's next!
