Haiyan Foodstop
This is an eatery in the middle of nowhere, but considered a 'lifeline" by many 'visitors'!
It is big enough to fit a hundred (or mire?) diners with an expansive parking area!I even think the owner must have spent an equal amount concreting this parking area to that of building the restaurant itself! Then again, they could be up to something bigger.
Haiyan Foodstop is a restaurant along the highway in Brgy Bislig, a quiet and sparsely populated outskirt of Tanauan Leyte. This is the town's southern end just before Tolosa. This entrance is just aesthetics, since it's actually open on the sides - open air, no aircon.
They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with the usual Pinoy Food that's really nothing to shout about. They started as a turo-turo restaurant, but they now have 'a la carte' menu. They also have local delicacies like "binagol", "chocolate moron", "maja blanca" et al hehe.
What sets it apart from other eateries is the presentation and upkeep of the place that is always clean, airy and bright. The place is spacious and all the staff are even uniformed.Oh, their shirts change colors everyday - but 'uniform'ly hehe! Today they're wearing red. It's the only such place along the stretch from Tanauan all the way south and beyond.
Thus, it became the go-to place of the many development workers tending to the area. And this is why it became a "lifeline". Development folks in the area, even from as far as Mahaplag (that is about 65kms away) come to this place when they need a decent meal!
This is my shot of their sizzling sisig, just one of those that we had for lunch...Hey I was in a group of nine people, many of whom I met for the first time, so I did not go around the big table for a shootout hehe! "Behave" muna ang iyong Pinoy Traveler!
There is "adobong pusit", "kinilaw", all kinds of "sugba" and the "bulalo" seems top seller!
There are days when this place could be really full during lunches or dinners...But if you're lucky, you may chance upon any of those huts. Nicely fits up to six people!
The "comfort room" (I think) is the best draw to this place, especially for the ladies...They are always clean and regularly checked by the staff - a rarity in this whole region! And I am not only talking about restaurants. You can include all gas stations and all government facilities outside of the cities! It is hard to find clean toilets, especially for the ladies. Thus, from Tanauan all the way south, Haiyan Foodspot is notable. A winner!
And for me, this is what makes Haiyan Foodspot an interesting dining place...There is live music while you enjoy food! Yep, from noon to night! It is either a band or this manong who is a "one-man-band". He plays many instruments and also sings very well in that husky voice. But, his solo alto sax rendition is always very wildly applauded!
It looks like I will be frequenting this place.
