Curious New Things At Mactan Airport
MCIA. Some things are a changing around here, one cute little bird told me lately. For the better naman daw. So, I told my self to look & see, before more changes happen.
Many of them are 'still new' to me, tapos magbabago na? I better take a closer look!
I said maybe I should start from-one-end-to-the-other, since there are many places & things at airports, that I do not bother to see, when I've got nothing to do with them!
And so...
I was on a Cebu Pacific early-morning flight to Tacloban kanina - therefore, can't use PAL's Mabuhay Lounge hehe! But a fine chance to see the corners I'm curious about.
One of them is The Enclave Cigar Bar and Wine Lounge. It's a posh-looking bar at one end of this airport's pre-departure area (near the CRs). Well-appointed with dashes of eclectic art here-and-there kaya mukhang mamahalin!
Look at the ceiling just above the bar, if you haven't done so, yet. Notice anything?
Yes, "steel wool" yan, many of them. Yung pang-kuskos, pang-is-is ng kaldero! Eto:Pinag-samasama at kinumpol-kumpol, artsy na! At ang bottled-water nila, bottle pa lang, pormang mamahalin na! Note: made by Nature's Spring yan, pina-sosyal lang!
And, all ashtrays are lined at the bottom with wet sawdust. What da unsa na? Chaff! Sawdust ba, as in ipa, upa, abog sa lagari, yab-ok sang lagari, nga gibasa! Sososyalin!
Anyway.., sosyal and mahal.., those are probably the main reasons why I have never entered this glass-encased (glass-walled ba!) nook near/beside the airport's toilets!
I did that today, and happily so. Why? Because at 4:45AM, this place was still clean and orderly. And, with only me for a customer, it was not (yet) smoky like a lo-onan!
Looking around more intently, this bar actually feels cozy with its subdued lighting. It looks & feels like a hotel bar or hip watering hole, not an airport pre-departure area!
Yet I saw another thing that might be reason for me 'not' to frequent this place. That wooden box a left. Those are prime cigar brands on sale, that you can puff here too!
I may be a (cigarette) smoker, but there's a big difference in "odor registry" of cigar & cigarettes. Cigar is harsher, clings more to clothes and most offensive to non-smokers.
So I avoid soaking in them during my travels - kasi baka himatayin ang mga katabi ko sa eroplano hahaha! Besides, I have tried puffing a cigar once before - nakakalasing!
Besides too, there's another smoking area that I go to at this airport (as of now).
And those are about to change daw. Ah, good that I experienced this 'Enclave' now!
By the way, I noticed that waiter, cashier, barista, bartender rolled into a single soul, kept darting in-and-out of this lounge every time anyone ordered food. Going there:Yep, out there, where the 2 waiters in black uniforms are. That is an open restaurant in the middle of the hallway, probably owned too by whoever owns this The Enclave.
Okay, so may be foods come from out there, and he only whips up coffee inside.
Oist! Those high chairs are actually a good perch for 'people-watching'! You'll see all the madlang pipol going into and out of the toilets at right. Kitangkita ka rin hahaha!
To see & be seen? Dyan ka pumwesto. At nasa loob ka ng mamahaling kapehan hehe!
That open restaurant out there has its own name: Gourmet. I didn't go there to take photos, since there were already people dining at 5AM, or enjoying morning coffee!
Beyond that is already the waiting area of Gate 4.
Hey, that cabinet-like thing at right is also part of them, but it has its own name too.For you who must connect, those are paid online kiosks - sa binisaya pa, internetan!
Nothing different really to the common internetan - ony that it sits right in the middle of the domestic terminal's pre-departure area, where anyone may shoulder-surf you!
So it is called [h]our pods.
Other side of that 'wall' is the entrance to the comfort rooms; to the left is Gourmet; to the right is The Enclave; behind me as I took that pic were the public sitting areas!
Oops boarding na! I should roam around this area of the airport more.
Sige, next time!
