No Sticker No Pila!

New Millennium signs of 'organization' and 'orderliness'? Or a sign of the New Millennium Philippine Language?! Whatever this "rhyme" means, it attracted my curios amazement!

Of course I asked around a la "imbestigador"! This is by the gate of V&G Subdivision in Tacloban, and, seldom would anyone be seen at this concrete post (mapaso!!!). So, I walked a bit more to the church and found someone who gave me an explanation.

That area pala, is where pedicab drivers queue up to get passengers, especially when the church celebrate holy masses. So that they (pedicab drivers) don't scrimmage and create chaos, they organized themselves, produced stickers for members to paste on their trikes, and those who don't have stickers (therefore not members of the PAPODA) may not pick passengers here. Istrikto!

And what is PAPODA? Oops, the PA, I forgot! At least I know what PODA means - Pedicab Operators and Drivers Association!

Oh well, signs of our times hehe!

People’s Center of Tacloban Revisited

Who goes to the Sto Nino Shrine without glancing at the People’s Center beside it? Well, during this “revisit”, I did not only want to glance at it, I wanted to roam the place once again. Alright folks, for those not familiar with it, google will help a lot as there too are a lot of descriptions and images of it. The People’s Center actually simultaneously sprouted with the Sto Nino Shrine beside it. They were the twin attractions of the city during their heydays until the Marcoses were ousted from Malacanang – but that’s another topic that I might in the near future write about. I am not here to discuss that it is another extravagant thing commissioned by Imelda. That topic is already way too worn out. My visit was more for the what it was and what it is now! The Ride: Tacloban To Palapag

Let's go (na talaga) ! This was it! To Northern Samar's Pacific Coast I went! How My D-Day Started D-Day (departure day ba!), 2 days after I went to reserve this ride, 06:51AM, I was at 7 Eleven beside the highway, waiting for a call. None so far. It was still early anyway. If the van left their downtown terminal exactly 7AM as scheduled, it probably would take 15~20 minutes max, to where I stood at Nulatula. Not a long wait, but anxious! Enough time for me to ransack the shelves of 7 Eleven! Marlights, seldom do hinter town sari-sari stores have that; Coke Zero, but I cannot cram those in my backpack. I said 'let me drink at least one can before I fast on this beverage for the next few days.' Argh! But happy thoughts lang, maglalakbay tayo! Oks na, sinamahan pa ng Siopao!
