Phnom Penh Walk Itinerary Recap

Due to insistent public demand... hehehe!

Let's do a recap of my entire walk among the parks and royal places around Phnom Penh, since many friends have been asking. Foremost, let me say "yes that was far"!

My entire walk, excluding strolls inside huge complexes (like the National Museum, Royal Palace/Silver Pagoda) came out to be more than 5kms instead of more than 7.

It's a "no joke" thing for some, but just "sisiw lang" for others. For me: "bitin"!

This leisurely walk went passing by these:

22. Tuktuk Ride (suko na sa lakad!)
23. Wat Botum Park (fly-by via tuktuk)

Update 2025: here's a google map showing those places/routes where I strolled.
The colored lines were my walk routes - starting with Blue at right (probably 3 kms); then on to Yellow (almost 2 kms); and onwards to Green (some 800 to 900 meters).

And the Red line (maybe 2 kms) was part of the walking plan, but I rode a tuktuk na!

I numbered landmarks (1 to 23) on that map, corresponding to the list above.

Notable Notes:
- The area seem to be the past & present 'culture center' of Cambodia.

- You can ride a tuktuk from place to place, if you think it is too much for a walk.

- Don't rush. Relegate some destinations for other days, if available!

- There were/are other places I omitted and will visit next time.

- Watch out for the "sunny-ness". Mas mainit ang Cambodia kesa sa atin.

Oh well, I loved this walk. Very educational!

Alright! Let's wrap this, for the mean time.
But I'm not done yet with this Phnom Penh visit.
I still have two or three stories to tell.

What place comes to mind when you hear the phrase "Pink Sisters"? Hmm, yes, Baguio, then Tagaytay - in that order, right?! But did you know there is also such a monastery in Cebu? Deciphering The Kilometer Marker

I thought you said “km 0” is the Rizal monument in Manila (Luneta). Then why is that ass sitting at a “km 0” that does not look to be anywhere near Luneta? Now now, calm down my dear cayvan (that means friend in Ivatan). Especially in this country, there are always exceptions to every rule! The topic we had in the previous entry is if and when you can travel by land from Luneta (e.g., to Pili, Camarines Sur). That 'ass', is sitting at the kilometer marker in front of the Batanes Provincial Capitol which, as we know, is an island way up north, right? That is one such exception. When the province, city or town is on a separate island, what becomes “kilometer zero” is usually the highest seat of government on the island. And in this particular example, it’s the provincial capitol of Batanes located in Basco. Kaonan Sa Karayman, Calbayog

Kaonan means eatery. Carayman is a barangay in Calbayog City. Kaonan Sa Karayman is OMG superb. It's a homely (native touches) restaurant that specializes in mostly Filipino foods like you see above. It is cozy and tidy everywhere, but you will see that undeniable mark of a frequented place. Its tables are abundantly scratched and faded on the sides, obviously because of constant frequent use. Then I said to my self 'this place must be popular'. They are! On some days, they cause barangay traffic jams! This is more of a lunch and dinner place for families or groups. Well, I saw twosomes in the past. What started as an eatery of 4 or 5 square tables has now grown into a restaurant with all rectangular tables for 6 or 8 - many are almost permanently joined together for the 'usual' big groups or families.
