From my previous two stories last night (this & this), why am I all of a sudden in an airport hotel? Why am I not home? Ah its like this, I promised a night-out with friends, eh I was to depart today noontime.
So, we decided to have it at Waterfront Mactan - after I literally just dumped my labada from Tacloban, and grabbed a few things to wear going Indonesia via Singapore. Hectic but hopefully fun Christmas!
I will tell more about those in my succeeding stories. As for now...
Here I was again (about to checkout) from this hotel that I call a "no frills luxury". Yes me ganun!
The ultimate in convenience if you were departing from Cebu Airport the following day! I took the two pictures above while waiting for my turn to be checked-out. The colors, music and mood is Christmas!
Ah my most notable note about this holiday mode and mood, would be from last night. Here's a video:
We loved listening to those three kids playing Christmas Music. Tastefully, non-obtrusive live sounds to set the character for the holiday season, as if coming from a piped-in recorded music. Magaling!
I'm writing this at the boarding gate! Okay, boarding na.., leshgo!
Readers should all be aware of this when going to Puerto Galera or any of the destinations en route to Batangas City! There is an anomaly that the bus company (or probably just their employees and without the management’s knowledge) has been perpetrating. Last February 25, 2005, being a holiday, I, together with three of my friends decided to go to Puerto Galera for a much needed weekend break. We decided to take a JAM/Tritran bus by reason of its station being conveniently located at EDSA near Kamuning which happens to be nearest our residences. This decision to take Tritran ruined our weekend! We were at the bus station as early as 5:30AM so we can take the 6AM trip. We happily rode on bus number 727, a yellow JAM liner. The aircon was great – even too cold and the bus was clean. It got readily full to capacity so we left by just about 5 minutes past 6AM. Upon departure, the “conduktor” distributed tickets without asking for our money yet. After he has given tickets to everyone, he c...
A vow to roam the country... Yes, your PinoyTraveler (that's me) is not at all religious but just the same made a "solemn" vow to roam the Philippines as much as I can and as long as I ever live (whichever ends first - as if they don't go together hehe)! This vow was "solemnized" by the fact that this occurred during a Sunday mass! I was a young 20 year old then. Way back then, really! The Scene The 9:30AM mass, the last row (pew) St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida - as homily was in progress The Dialogue American Guy : (smiling and with great enthusiasm noticeably inched to get nearer to me and whispered)... "you a Filipino? a Pinoy?" PinoyTraveler : (also whispering and wondering why the urgency of the question) "yes sir, I am, why?" AG : It has been like ages since I saw a Filipino. I love Filipinos, the Philippines. In fact I married one! You see my wife there in the front pews? You will recognize her, s...
Who goes to the Sto. Nino Shrine without glancing at the People’s Center beside it? Oh well, during this re-visit, I did not only want to glance at it, I wanted to roam the place once again. Alright folks, for those not familiar with it, google will help a lot as there too, are a lot of descriptions and images of it. The People’s Center simultaneously sprouted with the Sto. Nino Shrine beside it. They were the twin attractions of the city during their heydays, until the Marcoses were ousted out of Malacañang – but that’s another topic you and I may want to talk about in the future. I am not here to discuss that it was another extravagant thing commissioned by Imelda. That topic is already way too worn out. My visit was more for the what it was, and what it is now . The People’s Center and Library 'building'/'structure' was inspired by ancient greek architecture. Nabasa ko lang yan dati! Ah, that one will probably be hard to change even until obli...
