Cebu to Puerto Princesa - We Saw Kanlaon Volcano
Finally! We were flying to Puerto Princesa, which should have been yesterday, if only Cebu Pacific did not cancel our early morning Tacloban to Cebu flight also yesterday. But no time to keep thinking and feeling bad about it (for the moment). As we unanimously exclaimed, Puerto Princesa here we come!
And at 5:11AM as we prepared for takeoff, it looked like the skies were giving us a beautiful 'today'! Weren't those early morning colors enough to tell me that we were going to have a good day today?
I shot a video clip of the takeoff run on this flight. I'll put that here when ready.
In no time, we were already above Mt. Kanlaon. That apex is the highest peak in all of the Visayas!I'm not sure if those are clouds on its tip. They look like "smoke" to me, or I could be imagining things! Ah the real fact we know is: it erupted just lately (less than 2 months ago) and if I remember the news correctly, it said that the volcanic plume reached more than 1,500 meters above that crater. OhMyGee!
Mount Kanlaon (Kanlaon Volcano) is not just the highest peak, but also the most active volcano in the central Philippines. Btw, the city at the foot of this volcano and named after it is spelled Canlaon City.
Isn't it amazing that we can pass above (and this close) to such an active volcano? Memorable!
Anyway.., above Iloilo, it was also interesting having encountered many white fluffy clouds! It was good that those clouds didn't gather over Negros Island, so we were able to see Mt. Kanlaon!
Anyway again.., about 6:15AM, still a little dark down on earth.., we arrived at Puerto Princesa City!
And what a great morning to be fetched by a morning-fresh smiling representative of our hotel!
So, we finally arrived at Puerto Princesa! Breakfast was waiting for us, while the rest (oops, I mean the majority) of our companions were slowly slithering out of their beds at Purple Fountain Courtyard Inn!
On with our itinerary's 'Day 2' at Puerto Princesa - to Honda Bay we went! And that's my next story!
