Calbayog Is (Still) Growing
From Mondragon on the way to Tacloban, we entered Calbayog and navigated to their relatively new "old diversion road". This has been passable to "through-traffic" just months ago, but I say "old" because there is even a newer one farther away that bypasses not only Calbayog City proper but even Sta. Margarita - though am not sure if that is already passable, and I have no idea what they will call it!
Anyway, purportedly to avoid traffic at city center, we cruised along the diversion road (this is the one that looks like an extension of Magsaysay Boulevard). But, I stumbled upon some curious new developments that, made our travel even longer haha - though I liked this, because I saw new things!
Like this one... Wha! A "land" transport terminal... Whoa!I emphasized "land" above because at first I thought this was an "air" terminal hehe. I saw some signs and learned that this is their new integrated "land" transport terminal. It's not yet done but in progress.
That roof seems to be too high up, I wonder if it would be of any use when it rains. Well, who knows, maybe business establishments here are going to be asked to build their stalls with roofs - just like that bahay kubo that hasn't been removed yet. Awesome structure, but hopefully function over form!
Look! It's constructions constructions constructions everywhere in this area! Those they're building seem to be big structures. I saw some signs, looks like government agencies!
This one on the right, I saw some signage that said BIR (yes Bureau of Internal Revenue)...Da! What is this, a new government center? Like in Palo? What? Provincial or city government center?
My imaginationS (yes plural hehe) were running wild! If this, then, therefore... OMG! Whatever...This place is really big ha! Probably as wide as Eastwood City or even wider. The roads are wide too.
This one already has a name. It says Calbayog Public Market. And there's a second foor!Same roof as the transport terminal. Same comment: isn't it too high therefore useless when it rains?
Anyway, we drove around these already opened roads, just curious...I was wondering what else could or might be sprouting from this field soon. Yes, this was a rice field.
Well what do you know! That over at the end of this wide road is already the good old national road!Just a few meters after turning left on that national highway is already Ciriaco Hotel. Wow, Calbayog is growing wider! Oops, so we didn't cruise the diversion road length since we came out here hahaha!
There's always a next time. And probably, Calbayog will have grown some more. That'd be exciting!
