Boats for Yolanda Victims

Hey I'm going to show and tell you one of my favorite areas in Leyte as of now - that would be the "government center" in Palo. Why? Because the buildings look good (already) except for that of DTI near the NFA warehouse over at the highway, and DENR of Leyte Province across the MacArthur Landing Memorial. Their offices are still in ruins.

But speaking of DENR, that is where my "show and tell" can be found... many BOATS!

Overwhelmingly ang dami, that's why I like passing by this place. It kind of re-assures me that indeed, government is helping fisherfolks! Where are the boats? Look at the arrows!

Let's describe the arrows...
The lower left yellow arrow points to MacArthur's landing memorial and park. All the rest of the arrows point to many many boats! The upper left arrow is best for photo-ops as the boats are just beside the highway. This is before (and approaching) Oriental Hotel.

Here, I took a closer photo of those kids strolling on their bikes...

You still can't see the boats? Look at the heads of the 3 boys, and look for a light green color. The boats are stacked upside down. Also look at the corner post of that new blue-roofed building. The light-green color there is a stack of hundreds of outriggers (katig).

Here's a look at the side, when I was closer to their unfinished white building above...

It's a boat or boat parts everywhere! I guess there are not just hundreds but thousands!

Okay nagpapakahirap tayo sa kanan, eto ang nasa kaliwa ng kalsada hehe...

Note that there are still more rows behind this front row! And note too that, in that dark area under the tree at the edge of this picture, are still many boats stacked like these!

There are too many boats, all the way to near the perimeter fence of Oriental Hotel..,

Yep, I think the count of all these boats will not be just in the hundreds but thousands.

Well, kudos to DENR Leyte and whoever else is helping you produce those boats. That's a lot of fisher folks to benefit from such a magnanimous deed you have embarked on.

If only you can please already start distributing them? I have been passing by this area for many months now and I have long admired them. Pwede ba ipamigay na yan nang magamit na?! Aba oi, nabubulok din ang plywood (yata) if just displayed on a roadside!

In fact, I saw some hulls where the plywood started to show "bubbles", hmm...
