Pink Sisters, My Cebu Experience

What place comes to mind when you hear the phrase "Pink Sisters"? Hmm, yes, Baguio, then Tagaytay - in that order, right?! But did you know there is also such a monastery in Cebu? Ah, well, not really Cebu City since it is already a few steps away from the boundary. It is in Mandaue City. Yep, that is the 'Adoration Convent of Divine Peace' - a monastery for nuns clad in pink habit, reason why its called 'pink-sisters' and I think you know all about that part, right?! Anyway, this convent (and chapel of course - that's my topic in the first place) sits in an urban neighborhood that is by the boundary of two barangays both named Banilad. Yep, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City and Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City! And that is along AS Fortuna Ave., - the famed strip where many notable restaurants and branches of virtually every bank in this country are located with or without ATMs! Carigara Delicacies as Pasalubong

This was still on my joyride from Calubian to Tacloban, we naturally had to pass by Carigara. This time we "stopped-to-shop" oh ha?! My driver promised his three lovely daughters that he would bring home some pasalubong from Carigara, thus the 'shopping'. He went (I followed) to only this roadside store.., Well, he's been a driver for so long a time, I cannot contest his knowledge on where to buy the best of these pasalubongs! There are many stores on this highway strip, and I think they sell the same things! As the driver picked what he had to pick (and haggled with the vendors for more] I clicked hehe! Here's the honest deal about me and these sweets from Carigara - or other sweets from anywhere for that matter: I am not really too keen on any of them, such that I'd crave for, or plan to specifically seek them out. SM Seaside City

Another newly opened thing (for me), as I have been mostly away doing my own share of help for Yolanda victims. This one mall here is huge. How huge? I can't think of a way to describe so. But, I was informed by one of their managers that this SM is actually bigger than MOA in terms of total floor area. Oh my gee! Happy to have seen there is a bowling center, though I think, that one at "the old SM City" Cebu is still bigger than at this new facility. But its a bowling center enough! And there is that big ice-skating plaza. Ah, because of this rink, more Cebuano kids will soon reap more medals on the ice. Mark my word! A lot of vacant space as of today though. Some shops still have to be up. Good. Otherwise I could have really tired my aging body just by trying to have a look at every store haha!
