Work Haven Idea Lounge

I just happened by this hub, walking to where our vehicle was parked, after dinner at Ronn's. One derivative advantage when dining at restaurants with no parking spaces!
Imagine that, if the restaurant had its own parking area, we wouldn't have walked on a one-way Burgos St., searching where our car was. Then I wouldn't have found this!

What is it anyway? A Co-Working Space.

A commercial venture, providing a shared office environment, where individuals from all walks of life like freelancers, remote workers, or other "unrelated professions", work either individually or as groups or teams. That, includes students and/or researchers.

Kon karuyag mo mag-trabaho (whether on the web or otherwise), pero ma-aringasa or waray espasyo ha imo opisina, balay, apartment, boarding house, that is where you go.

This is something a bit new to Tacloban. There are still very few 'spaces' like this in the city, and this is even a first-time I saw one. Well, the first I entered to see inside!

They come via many names by the way. I'm used to calling them hubs or work-hubs, but you may see and hear terms like Shared Office Spaces, or Flexible Workspaces.

Some can also be called Collaborative Workspaces, Hot Desks, Hot-Desking Areas, Open Workspaces, Serviced Offices, Business Hubs, Startup Hubs, Innovation Hub, Remote Work Centers, Work Lounges, Creative Studios, Professional Suites, etc.

It really all depends on the "creativity" of the business owner. For you students and members of the academe, you may hear names like Study Lounges or Study Hubs.

Still others may be called Student Workspaces, Learning Commons, Collaboration Zones, Study Rooms, Peer Learning Spaces, Innovation Labs, Student Co-Working Spaces, Think Spaces, Learning Hubs, Idea Labs, Creative Corners and many more!

They differ in "paid services" offered. Foremost and common to all of them is wifi. If none, ba't ka pa papasok sa ganyan? Some do offer rooms for meetings or huddles.

Many have adjoining or built-in cafes, while others even serve free-flowing coffee up until mangurog ka! Oh, some even offer their spaces as your office/delivery address!

Of course, some hubs are by membership, while at others you can walk-in anytime.

Important note children, number one rule in all of them: silence - respect others. So, you can't enter to do group study kunohay, tapos maghaharutan tili-an kayo sa loob!

FYI, in many Southeast Asian countries that I've been to, especially at resort towns, those kinds of lounges are where the "digital nomads" usually work. Quietly yan ha?

Well, I've seen some that do have specialized sound-proof rooms for vloggers who want to sit and shoot/record their reviews, or even annotate their travel story vlogs.

Anyway, nice to know that Tacloban has this kind of lounge. Let's try them soonest!
