Marcela's Resort Hotel, Gamay

Image
From Araw Beach , near the northern end of Gamay, I was en route to Gapo Beach, at next-to-last southern-most barangay of this same town. Before entering the gate to Mika's Gapo Beach Resort though, I saw the inviting gate of Marcela's Resort Hotel . I told my driver "let's pass there first, to check it out". And so, we entered ! Nicely done, therefore 'enticing entrance' to a hotel/resort in the middle of nowhere. Yet dumb, because not easily readable. I call that material "the damn stainless steel" . There are many of that all over the world. The latest I can recall are Adamson U, UP Tacloban, Brgy Sampaguita Village, Oakridge Business Park, Adoration Convent etc. Some of those who sought my advice had to paint them over so the letters wouldn't reflect anything! My joke: "di lahat ng mamahalin ay mabuti"! But stainless steel lasts. Anyway, 'wag na natin pag-deskitahan yan. It's artsy anyway. Let's go in! ...

Lo-on Ha Lon-an

Image
I can say that this topic may be one for the nostalgia - at least to those who've been living on planet earth for 3 decades now. Yet this can also be additional learning , to the young and modern, with no actual farm exposure other than reels, shorts or tiktok! Umayos kayo, baka ang iba sa inyo eh, gawa sa lon-an ! Further to what I earlier told you, let's talk more about the LO-ON and LON-AN. This arduous task is an important if not crucial part of the copra production process. This pag-lo-lo-on activity is just a little past-halfway of many backbreaking activities, that farmers must endure, to complete their copra production cycle, to earn a living. Many farmers are by-and-by getting disinterested, slowing down or outright turning to other sources of livelihood, due to the amount of physical work, compared to the meager incomes that they derive from copra production. Baka maglaho na ito soon! Therefore, before this industry dissipates, let's document the...

Mika's Araw Beach Resort

Image
This is a new one, not many yet, even from Gamay, know about the existence of this resort. I chanced upon this place on my morning stroll of Brgy. San Antonio, Gamay. Yes, Brgy. San Antonio, where Araw Beach is - north of Gamay town proper - not the now known Mika's Beach Resort at Brgy. Cagamutan Del Norte, south of poblacion. Which incidentally per plan, is where I'm going immediately after Araw Beach. Wow! It was too early (wala pang alas-siete), so I told my self to come back, and I did! I quickly recorgnized, that this is the only all-concrete resort on Araw Beach, so far. The upper floor is a wide open space. That must be great for parties or events. Ground level has 4 rooms only, I didn't see any other, although the place is wide. I seem to 'espy' that the '4-rooms-only' structure seem to be still a 'market-test'? Pag dinumog at umaariba na, dagdagan. But while waiting for that, 4 rooms is no-sweat ! Parang nakikinikinita ko ang ...
