What Is This Sign?

Yep, that little signage, pointed to by the yellow arrow that I drew on this picture..,
An hour after take-off, on my Tiger Air flight from Cebu to Singapore, two youngsters wanted to know.

They came from somewhere at the back, sat at vacant seats (ABC) on the opposite side of my row (I was on seat F), merrily having a pictorial. They saw those "cartoons" just below the window, and they started asking each other what the red "bawal" sign meant. They asked a passing flight attendant, and that attendant instead said "Is this your seat? You should return to your seat number". Yes, ang sungit!

That stewardess then proceeded to walk forward, na parang nagdadabog. I said loudly "ang taray, eh di naman sya kagandahan"! Of course I knew she wouldn't have heard that, if she even did, I was sure she wouldn't have understood me (this is the Tiger Airways based in Singapore with non-Filipino crew, not the joint venture with Cebu Pacific). But, I made sure the two youngsters (and others) heard me!

As the 2 kids hastened to return to their seats, I told them "wait, ako'y mutubag sa inyong pangutana"! And I told them, it means "do not put bags on the floor below this window, since this is an emergency exit as those bags may hamper the flow of people trying to get out during an emergency evacuation. And I said it may sound funny, but for this airline, it also means do not bring bags og mulayak na ka"!

Tapos! And the kids thanked me! In my mind I was saying "that the stewardess should have answered their question before or even after she admonished them to return to their original seat assignments"!

Timidly smiling, one of those kids said "akala ko no-picture-taking". We three laughed, but I explained that it is not a camera in the drawing but is supposed to be a bag, an attache case or maleta! She had a very valid and good point though. Look at it again please, it looks like a camera nga naman, di ba?!

Anyway, I posted the story here, since, I presume, if those two kids (actually not really kids, since they are probably already in senior high) did not know about that signage.., then it is a very high likelihood, that many of you my fellow travelers, may have also missed what it means! Right? So, lesson shared!

We could also learn from what children see, y'know!
