More From The Cactus Garden at Changi

Changi Airport Terminal 1 Cactus Garden
After check-in and immigration formalities, I headed to this garden, which I saw earlier while roaming the public viewing mall of this same terminal (T1). Plus, I also promised sometime ago, that I'll come back to take more photos of the cacti and other plants in this garden. So here are what I got this time!

The 'barrel' group [Barrel Cacti]

Century Plant...

Not sure if this cute little one is also a Century Plant as it was just beside the above-pictured plant...

Hey, is this a member of the cacti family or just a good neighbor? It says Oyster Plant..,

We have many of these in the Philippines, right? Spider-lily? I recall, bawal sa aso at bata, nakalalason!

I think we also have this back home, right? Or maybe just a similar species...

I instead tried touching one leaf (shhh). Very hard and straight. With an even harder and sharper tip.

Ah on this one, I smilingly said, "di ba kalachuchi ito"? Hehehe, pink nga lang!

"Desert Rose" daw ang tawag dyan.., here are smaller ones that have yet to grow..,

I have many times heard about Frangipani, but I never really knew what they look like, until now..,

Here's a collage of three cactus species that either I did not see the name labels or there's none!
"Condom Cactus" at Changi Airport Terminal 1 Cactus Garden
Maybe I should call the middle one as "Condom Cactus" and the one at right as "Cotton Bud Cactus"!

This one I call "Black Delsey" hehe.., my weekend pack! Not cactus, pag-aari ng medyo bastos!

I didn't see the name of this one, but it has beautiful buds that become lovely flowers!

"Prickly Pear Cactus". This is the most common picture of a cactus that we know as children, di ba?

Here are others more that I didn't quite get the names of. There are just so many of them!

How about I just call this the "Nabubulok Effect Cactus"! It's not rotting, it just looks like so!

These two are beauties! The one at left looks like ceramic art while the one at right has white 'piping'!

Cactus din ito? But it's uniquely amazing. Those white 'confetti' are part (flowers?) of the plant!

What a name! Nasaan si Moses?! This one is colored like the Oyster Plant, but shorter and softer.

Hands down, this was the most attractive. But careful with the very sharp and rigid thorns!

Here's another group of thorny species.., but the one in the middle even has nice reddish leaves!

"Crown of Thorns". Parang marami na rin akong nakitang ganito sa atin. The thorns are in the stem.

Oh the third one at right is not "Crown-of-Thorns". It looks like a chinese cabbage to me hehe!

Teka, intermission... here's a view from the 'cactus jungle' to the Cactus Bar and the rest areas!

If you noticed, there is also a bench near that fern on foreground. This place is a nice rest area too.

Now here are three species that I commonly see everywhere in our inang bayan...

I don't know if they're part of the cactus family. I do know, these plants don't very much need watering and yet they thrive just fine. But they're in this garden anyway. Maybe they live harmoniously together!

Hey, from afar, I thought these cacti were dead or something. Hindi pala! They're just "albino"!

More sitting areas amidst these flora exotica. A very well thought-out garden!

Here's more of the colorful ones near the entrance to this garden..,

And because these plants are usually sharp, they do have a disclaimer and warning...

Ang galing 'no? And to think, this is just a roof deck viewing area of an airport!

Let's go elsewhere inside. Garden pa rin!
