Canigao Island: Beach Walk

Can we walk around the island? Definitely! It took me just 30 minutes, and it was not a straightforward walk as there had to be lots of pauses and poses. Y'know, the usual pictorials and selfies. Alams na!

I started here, the eastern corner, right after getting off the boat, walking a counter-clockwise route,

A few meters on, where there were not so many people yet, I looked back and this was my view..,

Went behind those cottages, just to get a glimpse of how it is looking out to sea from the island...

Back on the beach, looking back again, we docked a little beyond that corner where I started walking,
the main tourist area (north-east of the island) at Canigao, Matalom Leyte

Approaching the northernmost point of the island... from here on, fewer people choose to stay at..,

This thing amazed me. A crude version of 'the anchor'. Well, it obviously serves the purpose, right?!

I had to look back again (since the views were also good). Note, this is not were tourist boats dock..,

Approaching the tip of the island (northernmost). It's a sharp bend to the left (westward)..,

This is the western shore of the island, fronting the starting point of a fish sanctuary. I like this place!

And yes you guessed it.., this is a guardhouse for those who take care of the fish sanctuary..,

This western shore curves a little to the left (meaning eastwards) to complete some kind of a triangle!

Part of the sandy shore here is narrower (though still white) and there are some rocky portions..,

But the trees and shrubberies here are lush and green, you will be lured and tempted to have a look!

The widest natural green canopies of the island can be found here. And no noisy people too hehe!

The inner greens are still sandy (no rocks or mounds). Would even be good for team games (I think)!

Just looking at the surroundings, you can tell that less people venture unto this part of the island..,

But as you can see, the water and the sand are equally fantastic to be at - away from the crowds!

The southern tip of the island. It is a sharp turn to the left (east), considered "front" of the island.

Hey I stumbled upon them grilling seafood! Fishermen who came to rest and eat lunch on the island..,

Aside from fish, the were clams and other shellfish, squid and even corn cobs haha!

Less or no tourists at all before noon, but the sea and sand are just as inviting. Even better, I think!

Maybe these patches of rocky portions discourage people to stay at this southern area..,

But nearby are also patches of the finest and softest of sand in the whole island..,

Ah, and looking onwards (you see those kids?), I realized I have already circled the island!

That's it? Well, that's about it on walking around the perimeter of the island. But there is more!

Let's discuss Canigao's "infrastructure" on the next entry!
