Bayanihan Spirit Alive, Altruism 140303
We're still talking bayanihan like my previous posts here and here. An articulation, if you may, of my fascination at many entities now helping Yolanada-torn Region VIII.
Maybe let's call this "my fascination and gratitude"!
Istorbo! Yun tipong imbis na magkwento ka about what you saw, nauubos ang oras mo with a pesky point-and-shoot camera. [pero magaling sya sa beach pag maaraw].
Anyway, back to that white pickup truck in the picture. The markings on the driver's side say "UKaid" (kinopya ko ang colors, o ha!) that is the international aid arm of UK.
At the back, on the right side is that same logo, but on the left is ACF. That is a logo (yes the 3 letters) that means Action Contre La Faim (French Action Against Hunger).
So ano ba talaga, UK or France? Relak lang relaaak, ang puso mo! That means both! My guess: in this situation (Yolanda recovery), it is an ACF vehicle, funded by UKaid.
Like thatan na! At times, agencies help each other to help those in need. Aliw di ba?!
My thanks goes out to them. Yours too dapat. Even just in our prayers.
By the way, where that pickup is parked, behind the corrugated sheets as wall, is the McDonald's store that went underwater during the storm surge. Imagine the height.
I think this was somewhere in the Palo area. They're also in this place to help. Wow!
That was 5 or 6 big trucks I saw (di ko napiktyuran lahat) plus that white pickup truck (siguro sa boss nila!). Have you even seen such 'full force' on a street in Cebu Island?
And it's all of them CEBECO 1, 2 and 3 united and coming to Leyte as one group.
Meaning: serious, big and extensive infrastructure work yan. Hindi basta-basta!
Their banner says TASKFORCE KAPATID. Touching - to say the least.
Now children... bago tayo mag-iyakan sa tuwa... I'm not actually very sure if I should 1) be proud my Region 7 is helping; or 2) say Thank You they're helping my Region 8.
Kay taga-dinhi og taga-didto man 'ko! Nabuang na. Karisyo nagsurusaragul na!
Anyway, it's very heartwarming to seeing all the help from everyone everywhere.
I feel nothing but gratitude.
NB:
Travel is not only education. It can also change your life's direction. Examples? Well, and ayayay, my after-Yolanda sightings and experiences seem to be telling me to do something else. I want to also help those who help in disaster recovery. Serious yan!
Sige sige! Meanwhile pag-aralan at hanapin saan ba pwede mag-volunteer o maging staff (kahit JO lang) ng mga aid groups na yan. Parang ang fulfilling ng work nila eh.
That's a plan. Mark my word, gagawin yan ng My Royal Highness! Pramis!
But let's hope I'll still be able to travel and roam around. Bisyo na 'to eh hehehe!

UKaid and ACF
This afternoon, on my way to Ormoc from Tacloban, I saw this white pickup truck. As usual, pls forgive my Fuji Finepix JX500, it is not at all good in dark, gloomy, rainy, especially in moving (umaandar/tumatakbo) situations. I've tried 'all' kinds of settings.Istorbo! Yun tipong imbis na magkwento ka about what you saw, nauubos ang oras mo with a pesky point-and-shoot camera. [pero magaling sya sa beach pag maaraw].

CEBECO
About half an hour into the two-hour-ride, I saw this that made my eyes grow wider: They are CEBECO! Aw, for those not familiar, CEBECO is Cebu Electric Cooperative - the power coopertive of Cebu Province, except the metropolis area served by VECO.I think this was somewhere in the Palo area. They're also in this place to help. Wow!
