Bagongon = Telescopium telescopium

Another benefit of roaming around (even if aimless hehe), familiarization tour!

Walking by the side of Consolacion Public Market this morning, and I saw this:
I asked the manang what it is called. She said "Bagongon" (I hope I heard that right). A tindera beside her said lami na tinon-an. I asked permission to take a photo. Done!

And until I got home, my curiosity on that shell did not stop. So, I asked around, and curiously searched the world wide web for anything other than "lami na nga tinon-an".

So, it's generally called Bagongon in the Visayas, Mindanao and even some parts of Luzon. It can be called "Susong Pilipit" by Tagalogs, though it's a very generic name.

I'll stick to Bagongon. And, I conciously encountered it only today, I think!

Hey I asked if that is the same as the Dalodalo or Sihi in Eastern Samar, No to both!

So that’s the Cebuano word for “pull”! Hmm, why didn't I learn this from my tutor? Ah, maybe I was not listening when that topic was discussed! Pink Sisters, My Cebu Experience

What place comes to mind when you hear the phrase "Pink Sisters"? Hmm, yes, Baguio, then Tagaytay - in that order, right?! But did you know there is also such a monastery in Cebu? Ah, well, not really Cebu City since it is already a few steps away from the boundary. It is in Mandaue City. Yep, that is the 'Adoration Convent of Divine Peace' - a monastery for nuns clad in pink habit, reason why its called 'pink-sisters' and I think you know all about that part, right?! Anyway, this convent (and chapel of course - that's my topic in the first place) sits in an urban neighborhood that is by the boundary of two barangays both named Banilad. Yep, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City and Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City! Finding A Ride: Tacloban To Palapag

Let's go! But... What Where When How? After asking around, I learned that it is only D'Turbanada Transport that has regular scheduled direct Tacloban~Palapag trips. So I went to find their terminal in the city. Easy to find because they are on google maps , and they have an FB Business Page ! They even have a people profile also on FB that looks like the most regularly updated. Click click click and... I wasn't satisfied, so, I went to their Tacloban Terminal, 2 days before planned departure. Why? Because I needed to know the differences between a big-bus , a mini-bus and van . Why? Ay, for longer trips, my long legs need to know! At the terminal, I was told it takes the van 6~7 hours from Tacloban to Palapag, but due to the waiting at San Juanico bridge, it at times becomes 8 even 9 hours. Hiyay! I knew that was a bit exaggerated. I noted that anyway, to manage my expectations. Then I saw these... all taped at various parts of the tellers' glass-wall...
