Joy Ride After Oslob

The question was: after watching the butanding in Oslob, where would be a nice new place to visit? We considered a day tour on Sumilon, even called them earlier to check rates. Alas, we were late. Meaning we left Cebu City too late for it to be practical to hit the island-resort after the butanding watch. I also considered the nearby Tumalog waterfalls, but friends were not too keen on that. Also considered backtracking to Simala, but they’re not that religious. Even considered Carcar, but they’ve already enjoyed Vigan. So…

Why not go to Dumaguete?! And we all said yes. It is just a hop away! Bus to Liloan port in Santander, fastcraft to Sibulan, jeep to Dumaguete! Not even an hour to go! Thus, we waited for a bus… but this was what first came hehe! They spent their grand slow time wading, ooops traipsing that highway. Yes, vehicles evaded them!

We reached Liloan jetty port in no time...

But awk! No crafts were being allowed to cross the channel. Why? Signal number 1. Hmm, too many folks stranded at the port were disgruntled, complaining that the sun was high up, the winds were not that strong and the waves were negligible – so they were saying. But it was a rule the coast guard has imposed, so there was no point wailing about it. And we three thought we better go elsewhere.

Went to Bato on the same bus we took from Oslob (and they did not charge us extra)! Bato is the RORO port in nearby Samboan where the buses cross to Negros Oriental via the port of Amlan. Surely, even there, ferries would not be allowed to sail. So we went just to watch whatever – dilly dallying if we should get back to Cebu via Oslob or do it via the western route through Moalboal.

When the bus returned to its expansive depot a few kilometers back, we just went with it for a joy ride – and decide there which way to Cebu City would we take.

First to take off was an air-conditioned coach via Barili. We hopped on, front seat no less – at least my friends have not yet been this way…

Traffic! See our bus passing on the wrong side! What might the matter be?

A hearse up ahead! On a Monday? Well, probably a rich guy, but dead just the same hehe. They don’t bury their dead on weekends together with the poor folks! Ah anyway…

And for lack of anything else to wonder or ponder about...

I noticed that logo on the steering wheel is that of Vallacar Transit's, owners of Ceres. Customized buses? Abaaa, growing big!

Nice house. Or is that a resort?
Whatever, I just know it looks storm-surge-ready hehe!

There’s that big and beautiful town hall of Malabuyoc again…

I wonder why I took this pic! Maybe it's that lighthouse that caught me...
Seems covered by that hill to be clearly visible from the sea!

Left and behind us... but that sunset sky was getting more beautiful by the minute!

Alright, darkness meant no more pictures! But the trip continued uneventfully down to Carcar and onwards to Cebu! Nice enought roam, even if we did not get to paint the town red in Dumaguete.

Tomorrow is another day... of roaming!
