Good I was strolling SM Cebu in the coolness of friends from the fashion industry. When we took some shots, many others, locals and foreigners alike did the same!




Oh well, the BOLD signs of our times!

Toyoko Inn Cebu - First Stay

This hotel opened last year (May 2017?), and I never thought I would be able to see its rooms, much less stay in one, even for just while. Why? Kasi, I live "a walk away"! But voila! I just checked-out this morning after a 4-night stay! And I was able to confirm and affirm my observation of years ago (in Japan), that a room in any of their hotels, always looks and feels like all others at various places. That's the most aliw part! Why This? Why did I have to stay at this hotel that's only about 1.5km away from home? Ahay, I had 7 friends who came to roam Metro Cebu for a much needed B&L (not R&R daw)! They wanted a "medium-end hotel near a mall", so I chose this for them. Only to end up with them insisting I also get a room, para sama-sama kami 'day & night' forever! Eh I am hard-to-get hehehe, and I also wanted to see this hotel at bayad nila. GoRa! So we got me a King Double Room (whatever that means) - booked online...

Pink Sisters, My Cebu Experience

What place comes to mind when you hear the phrase "Pink Sisters"? Hmm, yes, Baguio, then Tagaytay - in that order, right?! But did you know there is also such a monastery in Cebu? Ah, well, not really Cebu City since it is already a few steps away from the boundary. It is in Mandaue City. Yep, that is the 'Adoration Convent of Divine Peace' - a monastery for nuns clad in pink habit, reason why its called 'pink-sisters' and I think you know all about that part, right?! Anyway, this convent (and chapel of course - that's my topic in the first place) sits in an urban neighborhood that is by the boundary of two barangays both named Banilad. Yep, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City and Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City! And that is along AS Fortuna Ave., - the famed strip where many notable restaurants and branches of virtually every bank in this country are located with or without ATMs! Puerto Galera’s White Beach - Gay Capital of the Philippines?!

AMAZING must be the one word that most everyone (esp first-timers) can muster to describe the place. Compared to any other place in the country, I must say, this place is truly, yes, amazing! Some friends could only say: " ang saya-saya! " I have visited this place in the late ‘80s but we stayed at a fine resort far from White Beach. We only visited White Beach during a quick day-tour. Thus, I may fairly say, I am new to this vacation spot. Here are my notes on the recent sojourn: We arrived on a Friday declared by the government as “holiday”. So we were in for a 3D2N visit. The boat’s arrival at White Beach felt like arriving at Boracay – boat hits smack to the sand, crew lays down a wooden plank, passengers disembark through the plank on to the beach and walk up to dry land where the resorts, restaurants, bars and stores are lined toe-on-toe. However, unlike in Boracay, as we disembarked, there were not so many people in the clear and really tempting blue-green waters....
