First Impression: Intercontinental Bali Resort

Five-star resorts around the world are impeccably good, right? But the Intercontinental Bali Resort has more than just the 'homey air'. The 'service' wowed me. They know how to take care of their guests for really memorable stays. My wow experience started even away from the resort. Yes, I wasn't there yet.

(Surprising) Arrival at the airport:
My chinky eyes grew wide here. The resort representative was at the arrival area, waiting for me, with my name written on a sign board! This was unexpected, because, I wasn't able to properly arrange for an airport pickup. I attempted yes, but the transaction wasn't consummated (far as I was concerned). My fault (I concede), because I got busy! Y'know, THE season, I was already partying left and right!😁

I asked this representative, "why am I in your list, do I have hotel transfer reservation?". His calm, even genuinely friendly reply was: "because you asked by email, then no answer, but you are coming, so I am here to help you, how can I help you?" Ganun ang sagot. Wow ah! Natulala ako ng konti. Ibang kind ito!

Ganito kasi yan, three days prior to my arrival, I emailed the resort asking about transfers from Ngurah Rai International Airport to their resort in Jimbaran. However, I already got busy with holiday activities. And I was already "on the road" (TAC-CEB-SIN). I was no longer able to check their reply, if they replied at all. However, I wasn't really worried about this thing, as (I think) I already know my way around Bali!

Lingid sa aking kaalaman, they replied to my email the very day I sent it. They followed up 2 days prior, and a day before my arrival. My inbox received 3 separate emails (one each day) from 3 different staff asking confirmation if I wanted them to proceed arranging transfers from the airport to their hotel. But I haven't gotten to opening those emails, much less read and reply to any of them. Ganun, 'mea culpa'!

Thus, I was not expecting anything. But I still looked for their airport representative here, to ask for the best way going to their resort on my own (in Tagalog: ang totoo talaga nyan eh, nagbabakasakali baka pwede makisabay, makalibre ang pobre)! I was startled the rep was not only expecting but paging me!

Ito ang hindi common, they alerted concerned staff to expect me and "assist ARPT-HTL TRSFR" - naka sulat sa checklist ni airport representative (nasilip ko, shh)! It says: "assist in airport to hotel transfer"!

At other hotels or resorts, even at the best of the Philippines and other countries, they would have just forgotten all about me, right? I didn't confirm anyway, so no transaction, why bother further, di ba? But, not this one! Yep, not The Intercontinental Bali Resort. They take care of you, even if you don't know it!

Akala nyo tapos na? No!

This Intercon representative went out of his busy way to ask if I knew my way and told me of the best options. I said I would just take an airport taxi. He replied that is a good choice, cheaper, but safe too!

Then.., he took my bag and escorted me to the Ngurah Rai Airport Taxi Service Counter!
I thought he would have left me there and let me conduct my own business, since I'm already an adult anyway hehehe. But, no he did not! He transacted for/beside me (di nya alam I can even speak a bit of Bahasa Indonesia)! It felt like he was saying to the world 'wag nyong tatarantaduhin, guest namin ito!

When we got my taxi ticket, he (still carrying my backpack) went with me and the driver to the cab!
Wowness ah! The man in blue uniform is my airport taxi driver. The one at right is the Intercontinental Bali Resort Representative, and that is my backpack on his left shoulder, as we walked to the vehicle!

When I was comfortably seated, here's what he had to say... "Welcome To Bali Sir"!

An impressive start of my stay at Intercontinental Bali Resort. And I was not even there yet!
