Find those words for yourself hehe. This big big signage is nailed to a tree over at Isla Del Sta Cruz Grande’s pink-sand beach! Yep, in the city of flowers :)
This was one of my nicest encounters during this Dumaguete visit. I got a chance to chat with one of the drivers of those ubiquitous “easy rides”. These were a group that plied the route to Dauin. What is an easy ride? Well, it is supposed to be the jeep that we all know. However, it has since been commonly referred to as “easy ride” when the vehicles used became the “multicabs”. Hey, before we proceed any further, take note that many of the common folks in Dumaguete pronounce it “EsRide” (es-ryed) as one word two syllables! I asked the manong driver why it’s called “easy ride” or “esride”. He does not specifically know. He just knows that it is now called so and times ago were referred to as “multicab”. I jokingly asked why “multicab” since there is only one “cab” hehe. The response was an equally jolly “I don’t know with Norkis why they used that name” and we laughed. The “esrides” lining up at the back of the bell tower are bound for Dauin. It takes only 15 to 20 minutes to re...
What place comes to mind when you hear the phrase "Pink Sisters"? Hmm, yes, Baguio, then Tagaytay - in that order, right?! But did you know there is also such a monastery in Cebu? Ah, well, not really Cebu City since it is already a few steps away from the boundary. It is in Mandaue City. Yep, that is the 'Adoration Convent of Divine Peace' - a monastery for nuns clad in pink habit, reason why its called 'pink-sisters' and I think you know all about that part, right?! Anyway, this convent (and chapel of course - that's my topic in the first place) sits in an urban neighborhood that is by the boundary of two barangays both named Banilad. Yep, Barangay Banilad, Cebu City and Barangay Banilad, Mandaue City! And that is along AS Fortuna Ave., - the famed strip where many notable restaurants and branches of virtually every bank in this country are located with or without ATMs! Oh yes, as of this writing, AS Fortuna has four hotels, two of them new - and am only...
This was my real destination in Victoria . I’ve heard from some friends that this place has a fine white beach, not as long as Boracay’s though wonderful enough they say! I even already knew where to go from Victoria town center: ride a jeep, tricycle or habal-habal going Allen, and get off at Spice Of Life Beach Resort! Oh ha, prepared! How easy? Well, I was not even at that intersection yet, as I walked from the Victoria Park , and I already saw a tricycle that stopped to wait for me. I ran so as not to keep his other passengers waiting and I immediately took the seat behind Manong Driver. When he asked where I was going, I just said “Spice Of Life”. He nodded, off we went! This is a picturesque run. The highway traces the northwestern Samar shoreline... San Antonio can be seen along the way. That haze of an island at the back is Capul ! And hey, I even knew if "I was there yet"! As the trike made its final right turn from the main barrio of Buenos Aires, I h...
