OMG! Who ever told me they only do it at night and atop our rooftops?! See them doing it! At exactly 2:48:43PM! Gosh! Where? The garden (or is that a mini-forest) just beside the Jose Rizal Shrine inside Fort Santiago!


Oh well, the animals of our times…

8:33AM this morning, amidst the throng and the din at NAIA Terminal 3, a Cebu Pacific employee walked up to me and asked if I had any luggage. I said "none", and she asked me about my flight details. I asked why (thinking she would direct me to a counter but..), she said "I will check you in sir"! And I said something like "ows?!" as I looked at that thing on her left hand - a tablet! So I gave my details, showed her my ID and she tapped on that thing, voila! That strip of paper came out from that other gadget hanging on her pocket - my boarding pass! Just like that. Yeah, ganun lang! I am no gadget freak, but, this was the first time I encountered such a thing - even if I travel almost every week - and yes, I was fascinated. Nice one, Lance! Luli Island

My Honda Bay Island Hopping Tour continued. After Starfish Island , Luli was our second island stop. As mentioned (and pictured from a distance) in my itinerary story , the name "Luli" is a contraction of 2 Tagalog words lubog (sink) and litaw (appear or float). Conjugated in the contemplative form, the two words can be joined to form a descriptive phrase, that's also the idiomatic expression "lulubog lilitaw". That expression describes this island's sandbar area that goes underwater ( lu bog) during a high tide, and visible ( li taw) at low tide. Saying "lulubog lilitaw island" is rather long, so  they coined LuLi Island! Who are "they"? Well, the owners of the island, Jun and Cely Marcelo? Taytay Boni, Miagao

An olden bridge, circa the Spanish era. This as we entered the town of Miagao, Iloilo. This is not anymore in use - in fact there is no more water under the bridge. But thanks to recent attention by younger history and/or conservation enthusiasts and / or travel bloggers like yours truly, this bridge has been gaining traction on the world wide web, being identified as one of the historical remnants of old Miagao. It is nothing but an old aged bridge, designed generally for the main mode of transport in those days (1850s), horse-drawn carriages. But its form and make, though dilapidating now (even ravaged on many parts) evokes a memory of the olden years of our forebears. Thus, the need to conserve it. Taytay Boni literally means "The Bridge of Boni". Taytay is of course a visayan word for bridge, while Boni came from Bonifacio - the name of the foreman in charge of this bridge's construction. Hmm, if all constructions now would only bear the name of foremen... hahah...
