Lapinig Look-See

Image
Lapinig is the southern-most town of Northern Samar province in its pacific coast. Going there was a kind of "bonus" destination during this joyride to the northern towns of Eastern Samar. Why? Because I didn't intend to go there, but it was just nearby from Arteche . So I said, why not and to Lapinig I went! As you would remember from the previous story, I already excitedly crossed the boundary of the two provinces of Eastern and Northern Samar. Thus, I was already in Lapinig. But it still takes about half an hour to the town center, passing by a number of barrios, which, made this ride more educational! There was "May-igot", the first barangay of Lapinig that sits in the boundary. Then there was "Mabini", a barangay with a stretch of beach that looks so inviting and has picturesque view of the pacific. Then there is Brgy. Palanas that has an intersection with a road that "should" lead to Jipapad.., Why did I say "should"? Ah

Mikomiko Resort

In an earlier post , I said "I will see you later" when we passed by this place going to Rawis Laoang. So, after that uneventful ride back from Rawis, here I was to fulfill my promise, to see this place! Curious. Mikomiko Resort, Mondragon, Northern Samar, Philippines! Yehey! You see this to your left when approaching the little native hut that says "reception"... At first glance, I thought this was a poolside shower hehe! But, no it is not! Look closely, there is no shower. This is some kind of a posterity corner for those of us who are fond of taking pictures! Much like an "event wall", reason why the resort's name is somewhere near the top of those bamboo poles! From the above corner, you see this... the café, cum restaurant, cum information desk, etc., etc! Would probably be more memorable if that corner above had this gigantic nipa hut as background! Oh the café has its own identity - The Blucharm Café. The reception hut is below this, to

Rawis, Laoang

Pronounce that as "lao-ang", not "lawang". That is how this place is called. From Pambujan (to Rawis), this town is only about 10 kilometers, still on good roads. The pavement is not new, but still good for a joyride just the same. Like everywhere else I drove by in this province (so far), the road here is still by the beach-dotted ocean coast therefore picturesque too! After the Camparanga Bridge, I was welcomed into Laoang by that big arch... But this actually still 7 kilometers to center of town, as that yellow kilometer marker just ahead says. And speaking of kilometers to town center, I smilingly saw these two intriguing signs... Marker (yellow post) says this point is 2kms to town, while the number on the signboard was erased! Ah! Some 200 meters from the above signage and marker, here comes a very important corner... This is where you turn right to Catubig, but no signage here. Well, that's a Petron station on the right. At least there is this
