The OVP Bus

Image
Saw this again, parked in front of Office of the Vice President in Nulatula Tacloban. Wala lang hehe, nakita, nilapitan, pinektyuran. Yun lang! A good looking bus anyway. Okay okay fine.., the reason I took that photo (I even wanted to board and peep inside - kaso sarado, walang tao, Sunday kasi eh) was... it is still a hot topic on social media discussions, not just in Tacloban but even in the whole Region VIII (Eastern Visayas) ! Like what? Like lately, the topic has been some jeep & bus drivers of/to the northern barangays were complaining that their earnings are affected by this 'Libreng Sakay'. The funny thing is: it has now become A Household War - of fathers (drivers) versus mothers (their wives, mainly vendors) and students (their children in college, even HS) ! Haruy adto na! Hala bibra sasari kamo! What is Libreng Sakay Program " initiative of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) which aims to ease the daily burden of commuting by p...

Sights and Scenes: Vientiane City Center to Airport

Image
New Year's Eve Party waiting in Bangkok. Let's go! But and well, as usual, let's do this blow-by-blow, starting from when I left Ibis Hotel in Vientiane, all the way to when I arrived at Holiday Inn Silom in Bangkok . Blog series uli! Bye Nam Phou! I left the hotel at 1156H going to the airport. Eyes wide open and alert for the views, because I didn't have much time to roam this city, being here for less than 24 hours! My flight was 1430H, was I early or late? Just enough! Besides, hotel check-out time nowadays is 1200H right? Aw, Ibis gave me a free hotel-to-airport transfer at 1200H. Go! Black Stupa Historical attraction spotted - that's the Black Stupa or T h at Dam. Unfortuantely, we were turning left (westward direction) at this corner, for this is the way to the airport. Mind you, that's only about 2 blocks away (around ~500 meters) from Ibis Hotel, but my early morning walk wasn't in that (northward) direction. I went happily ...

San Jose to Iloilo By Bus

Image
My bus ride from San Jose De Buenavista in Antiqué, to Iloilo City. Yeah! Finding My Ride This was as I have intended ( to ride a bus, not a van ) for 2 reasons: 1] bus seats are more spacious than the vans (more leg space), 2] best views of the world outside. And I knew even from long ago, there are Ceres buses (both "Aircon" and "Ordinary") going to Iloilo or elsewhere. So, I took a tricycle from downtown to the bus terminal. Not here, these are the vans for Iloilo! Not here too, these are going to Anini-y! The yellow buses here! Note: the red sign at that back building says San Jose De Buenavista Bus Terminal . Behind the buses is a street. Driver brought me there, saying it's nearer . True! Here! That man in shorts told me the 2nd bus, behind the 2nd tree, was the next for Iloilo. That's the one in front of him in that photo above. This: So I went for it. Yeah! Look! There is that prominently displayed trashcan right upon getting on ...
