Not Now Danao :(

Drop the adventure park from your senses for now… that’s in the past blog and past is past! From there we went to the town proper of Danao, Bohol… or just about somewhere there. Yes, its this municipality that owns and manages the said park. I thought I must, therefore should see the main enclave of the town away from that adrenaline pumping experience over in the mountains. This town’s main residential area seems to have been sideswiped from the common tourist’s eyes due to the popularity of its adventure park, but I wanted to see it just the same. And so went for it… but did not prosper haha. We left the adventure park when it was not anymore drizzling. The sun even showed up. First to catch my attention was the municipal hall of Danao. It is not at center of town. It sits almost solitary at some field in the outskirts of town, nearer the adventure park, though houses and businesses have started to sprout in the area. I think this is a new building and/or location. What else… photo-o

E.A.T. @ Danao Adventure Park

After that “tsk tsk tsk” realization at the Inabanga church we forded on for the adventure park. I really thought this would have been one long ride as I looked it over and over on google map. But our drivers knew something that’s not on the map… a short-cut. I can’t even point now as to where we made that detour. I just knew we were off the highway, passed through dirt roads with beautiful rural views, and voila, we entered the newly paved road that connects the town proper of Danao to the adventure park. That was some exhilarating ride via back roads, as if to prepare us for the adrenalin rides haha! Btw, just to avoid confusion, this is the town of Danao in Bohol. Remember this or even this ? Still some distance before we arrived at the “entrance” to the adventure area, we saw this new monument and a cute circular park surrounding it. Well, am not sure you could call it a park, because its just it in the middle of a grassy plateau. Maybe a resting place would be most appropriate as

Pedalcab

Do you know what that is? That would be what you and I might otherwise call the “pedicab” or “padyak” or so many other names else. Yep, the trike powered by the driver’s own feet – a bike with a sidecar. That is only it! But they call it Pedalcab in Danao City, Cebu. And, I have yet to see a place in this country that has the same “sosyal” term for the lowly pedicab. Aliw ‘no?! Maybe they got it from foreigners or foreign lands. That square white board posted on the fence says pedalcab fare is 3 pesos.

Getting Lost With Names - Danao

This topic started with this article Whoa, we are now in letter D! So lets start with Danao. There is a town and a city both in Region 7 – Central Visayas. That town is in the hinterlands of the island of Bohol. It is just north of Carmen and roughly a hundred kilometers or so from Tagbilaran. Very rural and nothing of note there except Francisco Dagohoy was born in that town. In fact, until the recent past, it was commonly referred to as home to rebels and insurgents in the island. But I have witnessed nothing of that sort when I was there. Then came the Adventure Park! OMG, it can easily overshadow the other attractions in Bohol! The other Danao is the city north of, and just a few minutes from Cebu City. It’s an industrial city but try roaming around and you’ll see some interesting finds. Of course it will be easy to go-see one of the “gun smiths”. But its just an industry, they don’t go around town brandishing pistols hehehe. Try the ancient church. Like other old churches in the c
